does time of day affect your workout. It didn't seem to before but I worked
out this morning - I usually work out at night during the week or late afternoons on the weekends. Got there when Gym opened. Dam, everything
was heavy and I needed a little longer between sets (still doing DC) to
get the reps/weight I wanted. I had two days off so I was rested. Usually
I'll come in strong after a day or two off. All I can think of is it was the
time of day. Does this affect anyone else??

Yeah, Im usually a little more groggy in the am, and I do physical labor all day for work, so Im tired in the pm too. It sucks, but at night Im def a little stronger.

im a big believer that gettin your meals in is a big thing. if your training for mass and strength night time is the way to go. when you wake your empty (think of your body going to bed as a wet sponge and waking up as a dry one :-) ) so at night you d perform better

Yeah, I think time of day is definitely important in overall growth. Between 12pm to about 5pm has always worked out the best for me strength and endurance wise. I have a chance to get a couple of meals in me, I'm not groggy and post workout I am able to have my PWO drink/snack and then my meal a hour or two after that. Night training keeps me up too late, and early mornings I'm too groggy.

I hate working out after work. I am tired and weak and I don't even have a manual labor job anymore.

I should be on 2nd shift soon and that is my favorite b/c I can wake up eat and go workout, come home, eat, and go to work. Makes life easier for me

I know a lot of people that swear by morning workouts and that is the best time to do it. It is just impossible for me to workout in the AM.

I think you have a kind of "body-clock" where energy levels are higher and lower.
If you work out at pretty much the same time your body will adjust to that time.
Say if you start working out first thing in the morning and seem to have less energy,
eventually your body will adjust and you will get used to working out at that time.

"Time" really has a lot to do with it. Most people's bodies seem to run on the same schedule regardless of your actual day-to-day schedule. If my work schedule has me waking up at 3am and I'm working out at 5am, I'm still a little sluggish in the gym. However, I currently wake up at noon and get in the gym at 2pm, and it's perfect for me. I find the middle of the day to be the best time to work out. I think your body could sense the time of day and runs faster or slower based on that.

There could be some truth to that. I used to work out right before lunch at a prior job, and it seemed to be the best time for me. I'm more tired after work, but I really have trouble if I workout in the morning. I'm sure the body can adapt, but it seems that the middle of the day is the best time. I would love to be able to do that again.
