It's been a minute... I've had some distractions last week. I had a deadline to get some heavy major work done on my house in preparation for the HVAC system being installed.
I also think I have my sleep issue figured out: I seem to have "Restless Legs Syndrome" which I've heard of but always thought was a goofy, made-up diagnosis. But I read up on it and the symptoms fit. Had a doc appointment and discussed it with my family doc, who agreed. I've been prescribed Ropinirole (I may be misspelling that) at .25mg per night. That's 1/4 mg. Believe it or not, I've had a "hangover" from that whichbmakes me feel like I'm made of lead for half the day. Once the fog lifts, I'm still pretty tired. Doc says this will pass in a few days to as much as a couple of weeks. It's already getting better, but I'm still dragging. I am sleeping a ton better, though. Hopefully, that continues.
Bottom line: I haven't trained since my last post, except for hockey practice on Thursday.
Got back on the horse this afternoon with a chest workout. I wasn't very strong or very energized:
PVC pipe stretching to get the shoulders and pecs loosened up.
Warmup sets:
Empty bar: 1x30 reps
135lbs: 1x10 reps
185: 1x10 reps
225: 1x5 I could tell already I wasn't going to be very strong today.
245: 1x2 Maxed out already. Not good.
235: 1x5
235: 1x3 Maxed out again
225: 1x4. And again.
Incline db press:
50lbs: 1x10
55: 1x8
I did a couple sets of hammer curls sitting on the 45° incline bench with hands/arms externally rotated. These are a PT exercise which help with biceps tendon/rotater cuff issues:
15lbs: 1x10
20: 1x10
Done. Not my best workout, for sure. Did get a good pump I my chest and triceps, though.
A friend at church remarked that I must be working out again (after my surgeries and lengthy recovery), so despite the scale not moving much in the last month or however long it's been, apparently it shows. That was gratifying.
Back at it; keep plugging away...
