I did these the other day after not performing them for years and I must say these things ROCK! I perform them with an olympic bar and i lower the bar about 5 inches from my chest and keep my elbows tucked in and i was getting insane pumps, definitely a main stay in my regimen from now on. But next time i'm doing them from a powerrack and in explosive fashion.

yeah bro i use them alot, they are great and I can tweak its movement to hit different muscle areas, they are great!

I ALWAYS see people do these wrong though, when used for triceps you shouldn't bring it to your chest, this will involve the chest too much plus KILL your wrists. Bring it to within 5 inches of your chest and you'll be set.

try it on a decline bench, it completely takes the front delts out of it!

I love close-grip benches. I'll have to try them decline too, it sounds really good.

I'm just glad i finally got the technique down and i'm doin them right so i can slap some real weight on their, time to beef up da arms :satan: .

when you do it on the decline make sure to bring the bar to right about the bottom of your rib cage. any higher or lower your either at an awkward angle or incorporating too much chest. also, i do like chaps does and only bring the bar to about 4 in from my chest, and dont lock out the elbows of course.

yeah i love them too. i do these and skull crushers seated straight up against the preacher curl machine. my two main mass builders.

can you explain the close grip bp on a preacher curl? i assume you mean facing reverse and above your head, is that right? that sounds interesting, isn't it hard on your shoulder?

I'm going to try them today. I'll let you guys know how it went.

Excellent movement

Close grips are an excellent movement, I usually do two sets with 315 for 10 each then drop with added weight to 8 reps and then 6 reps........ if you think about it is about on of the only true heavy bar movements you can do just for tris, the rest is over head extensions or pressdowns though i love them........ personally i think Close grips and heavy ass dips should be the first tow movements in every tri work out then the rest of the movements

Wow, 315! You huge guys never cease to amaze me. I just tried them on the decline at the gym at lunch--Awesome! I think I just found my new favorite exercise. It was very easy on my joints, and it does take out the delts.

I'll have to see how heavy i can go on these, my first exercise was seated dumbbell extensions my FAVOURITE tricep exercise :), only got around to using 225 for close grip, mammoths like Art Atwood use 405 for 10 and up, lol. I think my joints would give out before my muscles.
