I never understood why you would need one or what the advantage of having one is.

to keep challenging yourself and leave nothing to chance...
the best way to keep a log book would be with a stop watch (IART)

time the sets and the amount of rest between sets

also make side notes in the journal such as-no sleep last night or stressed out or shitty work out poss. overtraining???

I used to when I started out, but now I train on feel and not by weight or reps so it'd be pointless

I always lifted to failure so no need realy for me, but i can understand why someone new to working out would, but i do believe in keeping a diet journal/log, i think thats pretty important especialy for those who compete so you know exactly what worked and when it worked last time you competed,

I've kept one for years. I write down every workout, how I feel, every exercise, reps, weights, etc. I also note what I'm taking. This has been instrumental to me and I will continue to do it. I've seen first hand that the mind fails before the muscle on things, but if you know you deadlifted 500lbs 12 times 4 weeks ago, it doesn't seem as daunting and doing it 14 or 15 times has to be done! I also keep a diet journal for shows, but I still haven't been able to nail it.

I have kept one from time to time....when I first started lifting back in the early 80's I kept one for a long time and I like to pull it out once in a blue moon to check my progress in 29 yrs.

I haven't of late but will start one soon. I think it helps

I always keep one it helps me to continually push harder more reps more weight whatever, because I may not remember what I did last time. I also have been known to fill in my workout before I get to the gym like if im changing things that way I don't forget.

And I used one when I was powerlifting because it's hard to keep that shit in your head when you're doing a lot of sets with 2 boards, 3 boards, no bench shirt, no knee wraps, full gear and all that shit, but for normal training, I don't use one

I'll have to look it up, is it only for Iphone or is it available for droids as well?

Not sure ... Only familiar with iPhone /mac There are a lot or workout apps but I wanted one that I could customize exercises and document my work . There is even a little place for note taking . I always have my phone . So I always have my workout journal .

I haven't used a log since the days I first started training, but I've been meaning to start keeping one again. It's getting too hard to remember what weight I'm using on every lift, especially on machines that I don't use every time. It wastes time to start back too light and have to try to figure out what weight works when I haven't used a machine in a while.

It doesn't take you just a couple reps to figure out it's going to be too light

Yeah, it's not too bad when you just have to move the pin, but on the Hammer Strength machines where you have to get back up and find more weights to add, it becomes a pain.
