to keep challenging yourself and leave nothing to chance...
the best way to keep a log book would be with a stop watch (IART)
time the sets and the amount of rest between sets
also make side notes in the journal such as-no sleep last night or stressed out or shitty work out poss. overtraining???
I found a decent iPhone app . Been using that for a few months .. Been pretty good

I do the same thing on machines.. It must be from all the pot that I have smoked.. lolI haven't used a log since the days I first started training, but I've been meaning to start keeping one again. It's getting too hard to remember what weight I'm using on every lift, especially on machines that I don't use every time. It wastes time to start back too light and have to try to figure out what weight works when I haven't used a machine in a while.

It doesn't take you just a couple reps to figure out it's going to be too light
