The 2022 Monsterzym Pro began on Saturday with the finals taking place on Sunday in Paradise City, South Korea. The busy weekend in bodybuilding spanned across the world where many competitors were looking for qualification into the Olympia.
Heading into the event, Seung Chul Lee was expected to take home the prize. He was the reigning champion of this show from 2020 since there was no Men’s Open category last year. Chul Lee is looking to return to the Olympia after last appearing in the biggest show in 2020.

2022 Puerto Rico Pro Results

Here are the results from the 2022 Puerto Rico Pro!
The 2022 Puerto Rico Pro took place over the weekend spanning from Friday to Sunday. San Juan, Puerto Rico hosted a three-day long event that handed out Olympia qualifications to 10 divisions around the sport. Once again, Men’s Open headlined the weekend.
Hassan Mostafa entered the weekend with hopes of getting back to the Olympia, where he finished 13th last year. Mostafa earned third place at this event last year and was the highest finisher to return in 2022. Mostafa made great improvements to his physique in the offseason and looked ready to compete on stage.
Maxx Charles has been extremely busy this season and was the biggest threat to give Mostafa a run heading into the weekend. He earned top-three finishes at the Indy Pro and New York Pro in back-to-back weekends. This has put him in position to possibly qualify for the Olympia using the points’ system if he is not able to win a competition. Theo Leguerrier also entered with an aesthetically pleasing physique and hopes of stealing a victory.
All other divisions were well-represented as well. Emanuele Rodriguez was able to pickup a victory in Classic Physique while Oswaldo Gonzalez won Men’s 212.
The full results from the event have been announced from the event. Checkout the full breakdown of the results, along with official scorecards.

Rauno Heinla Crushes Four Reps Of 925.9-Pound Deadlifts In Training

Rauno Heinla continues to get his deadlift numbers up in a big way.
To this point, there are just two men who have deadlifted 500kg — Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson. Rauno Heinla is looking to become the third person to join this list. On Thursday, the strongman shared a video on Instagram crushing 420kg (925.9lb) deadlifts four times in the gym.
Heinla joined Laurence Shahlaei and Aivars Smaukstelis for a massive training session. By the looks of the video, Heinla could have completed some more reps but decided to stop at four.
“Deadlift 420kg/926lb x 4 touch and go
Just got nice training with@[email protected]@mrs_shahlaei@giantslivestrongman@rammukoobas“

In May 2020, Bjornsson locked out a 501kg (1,104lb) deadlift to take the world record away from Hall by a single kilogram. He has held the record ever since and there is no one who is threatening at the moment aside from Rauno Heinla. He continues to be one of the best deadlifters in the world at this point in time.

Can Rauno Heinla Break The Deadlift World Record?
At the beginning of the month, Heinla set the silver dollar deadlift world record with a huge 1,278.7-pound lift. He was able to bounce back from stomach issues that forced him to pull out of the 2022 World’s Strongest Man competition. He is scheduled to appear in the 2022 Giants Live World Open & World Deadlift Championships on Aug. 6. Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales might be the site where Heinla attempts to break Bjornsson’s Record.
Rauno Heinla has four major victories under his belt during his career. Two came during the SCL Savickas Classic and SCL Estonia back in 2014. He won the Arnold South America in 2017 and followed it up with a victory at the Arnold Australia the very next year. He has competed in 45 events during his powerlifting career but just one WSM. He is looking to qualify for next year’s event and could do so with some big performances down the stretch.
Rauno Heinla has been attempting to break world records and has already reached one this month. With just under two months to prepare to take the stage again, Heinla is looking to get his deadlifts in position to take down the world record.

3x Natural Olympia Champ William Long Discloses Favorite Exercises and Nutrition Strategies in Interview: “Paying Attention to My Electrolytes Balance Improved My Physique Most”

Image via Instagram @ricecracker2487
3x Natura Olympia Men’s Physique champ gave away his favorite workouts and nutrition secrets during an interview.
The 3x International Natural Bodybuilding Association (INBA)/Professional Natural Bodybuilding Association (PNBA) Natural Olympia Men’s Physique champ William Long disclosed many facets regarding his training and nutrition when answering interview questions. Long shared why deadlifts are his favorite exercise, an old-school movement that he credits to the bulk of his triceps growth, and what he discovered about his nutrition that had the most significant impact on his physique. Plus, he revealed that there’s nothing special about this workout plan, and only one thing he does in the gym has made him a 3x Natural Olympia champ. Keep reading to see the 3x Natural Olympia’s champs questions and answers.
William Long Interview Questions (Q) and Answers (A)
When asked about his workout plan, Long noted that there’s nothing special about it and that “I go to the gym and bust my ass.” However, he did acknowledge that he does a typical “bro split” and trains separate muscle groups once weekly, five days a week, and has two rest days. Below we’ll dive into Wiliam Long’s response when asked about his favorite exercises and nutrition.
Q: What are your favorite exercises?
A: “Deadlifts are without a doubt my favorite exercise. There’s nothing like pulling heavy weight off the ground. Deadlifts engage the entire body and give you a greater boost in testosterone and growth hormone than any other exercise, in my opinion.
Barbell rows are a close second. Again, pulling heavy weight. Heavy rows have developed my back width and density more than anything else.
The pullover press is an old-school compound exercise. I attribute most to the development of my triceps. It’s a total upper body movement that is a combination of a pullover and close grip bench press. It really opens you up.”
Q: How does your nutrition look in-season and off-season? What meals and nutrition targets do you have?
A: “As far as my diet goes, it’s pretty basic. I try to incorporate the most nutrient-dense foods possible within my calorie allotment and macronutrient breakdown. Whether it’s pre-contest or off-season, I eat the same meals. The only difference is quantity. When I diet down for competition, all I do is gradually reduce what I have already been eating.
My macronutrient breakdown is normally 1-1.15g protein/lb bodyweight, 20-25% of my calories from fats, and the remainder of my calories filled by carbs.
Some unique foods I like to incorporate are kimchi and sesame oil. What I believe helped improve my physique the most was paying attention to my electrolytes balance. I included more potassium-rich foods like spinach, bananas, and potatoes. I also measured my salt. I have never felt better during a prep. everything is weighed and measured so everything can be controlled and easily manipulated.”
What’s Next For William Long?
Although William Long’s dominated the Men’s Physique class, he plans to take a year off to train his body for the Classic Physique division.

Joe Rogan On Chris Hemsworth’s Natural Physique: ‘You Don’t Get That Big Without Immense Amounts Of Hard Work’

Joe Rogan addressed Chris Hemsworth’s physique and credited his work ethic.
Joe Rogan built an empire in the podcast industry and is the biggest name in the business. He is able to discuss many avenues but thrives in UFC and combat sports. In a recent interview, Rogan got into a discussion about the sexiest man alive and had to include Chris Hemsworth in the conversation.
Hemsworth, who was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2014, has continued to take his fitness seriously and show off his incredible work ethic. Hemsworth shares workouts to social media often as he continues to build a shredded physique.
During the pandemic, Hemsworth helped create an app called CentrFit where users can choose from different at-home workouts to get themselves in shape. This is an app that Hemsworth himself has used while he is preparing for different roles. Hemsworth is known for his work in Thor and The Avengers.

Is Chris Hemsworth All Natural?
In a recent YouTube video, Joe Rogan was asked who the sexiest man alive is. He did not hesitate to mention Thor or Jason Mamoa.
“It’s a good question. Probably Thor, right guys. Jason Mamoa. Jason Mamoa and Thor. Ever watch his workouts?”

Rogan has discussed the all-natural status of different figures recently. Of course, Rogan has some words to say about the natural status of Liver King. He does not believe that Johnson has a natural physique, despite his claim of keeping away from drugs and living an ancestral lifestyle.
Here, Rogan explained how Chris Hemsworth is an extremely hard worker and he shows it within his workouts.
“Like people go, ‘he’s taking steroids!’ Bro, relax. Sure USADA [United States Anti-Doping Agency] is not knocking on Chris Hemsworth’s door but you don’t get that big without immense amounts of hard work. There’s no way. You just don’t. People are just saying, ‘oh he’s just taking steroids.’”
Chris Hemsworth has remained in top shape by mixing up his workouts. He has worked on explosive power while also working in some boxing training. Joe Rogan even made a comment about how USADA is not going to be knocking down his door. This is the company that checks UFC and other fighters for steroids.
There is no doubt that Chris Hemsworth has been a major heartthrob in Hollywood for years. If you have seen his workouts on social media, that is not going to end anytime soon.

Tommy Chong is most famous as being part of the comedic duo – Cheech & Chong. The stoner comedies and Chong’s love of marijuana remained a staple of his personal through to today. But many people may know that Chong also had a close relationship with bodybuilding and the Golden Era bodybuilders of Pumping Iron fame. That’s why Mike O’Hearn brought on Tommy Chong for a full length interview to discuss his past, his discovery of bodybuilding, and share a few funny bodybuilding weed stories including greats like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Zabo Koszewski.
Tommy Chong might not have the physique of a bodybuilder – but his connection to the sport actually runs pretty deep. He respects greatly the focus, dedication, and mentality of the bodybuilder lifestyle. He hung out at Gold’s Gym, was trained by Vince Gironda, and spent time with the Golden Era bodybuilders such as Zabo Koszewski, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Tom Platz.
Underneath it all – Tommy Chong most connected with the work ethic that went into sculpting perfect physiques in bodybuilding. Chong came from a poor upbringing and learned how the value of hard work could bring him out of poverty and achieve the goals he set in his life. While those goals ultimately leaned towards music and comedy – he sees that same mentality displayed physically in pro bodybuilders as they build their physiques.
Mike O’Hearn took some time to discuss Tommy Chong’s childhood and struggles during his upbringing before jumping into some bodybuilding stories. Let’s jump into it.
Tommy Chong’s childhood, poverty, and rise to success
Tommy Chong grew up in Canada with very little money. Because of this – he found work wherever he could with blue collar odd jobs. His first ever job was mowing lawns at 10 years old. Chong explains when you grow up poor and live in a poor part of the country – there is always a job to be had somewhere if you are willing to put your head down and work hard.
Tommy Chong explains that this early “training” of learning to work hard while he was a kid gave him the mindset of working hard on everything he put his mind into – no matter the challenge. He considers this a big reason why he was able to succeed in music and later in comedy. It wasn’t just talent. It was hard work to make people take notice.
Tommy Chong’s family went through such hardships – that Chong eventually had to go to an orphanage for a short period of time. During that time he would find solace in being alone. That alone time allowed him to discover himself. To understand and define himself. This, in combination with the hard work, gave him focus to succeed at his endeavors.
Tommy Chong Discovering Bodybuilding
So how did Tommy Chong get into the bodybuilding world? When he was a young man, he was very small and skinny. As a teen he would play sports – but was told he would need to train to stand alongside the other athletes. So Chong found a hardcore bodybuilding gym where he could afford to train – and quickly discovered a respect and love for weightlifting.
Fast forward to Tommy Chong’s movie career and success. He purposefully wanted to move to LA so he could train at Gold’s Gym while building his film career. He would train at Gold’s Gym because it was cheap – and he enjoyed the company and mentality of the bodybuilders who would train there such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Zabo Koszewski. He would become good friends with Zabo and share a few funny exchanges with Arnold before Chong became famous:
“One time [Arnold Schwarzenegger] said to me, he said, ‘You know I look at you and – what’s wrong with your body? And I realize, you have no shoulders! And so that’s what I would concentrate on.”
Years later, when Tommy Chong was preparing for a movie. He decided to reach out to the legendary Vince Gironda for some training sessions. Because he was living a more lavish life as a movie star by this point – after some successful sessions – Chong would overpay Gironda to show his gratitude. This led to Gironda becoming Chong’s personal trainer.
A combination of these moments all led to Tommy Chong being a personality integrated into the Golden Era bodybuilding crew. He would train at Gold’s Gym, have fun laughs with the bodybuilders, and leave with a collection of great stories.
Marijuana Stories With Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Pumping Iron Bodybuilders
By this point, everyone in the bodybuilding world is familiar with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s famous scene in Pumping Iron – where he smokes a joint while wearing his “Numero Uno” t-shirt. With Tommy Chong hanging out with the Golden Era bodybuilders – Mike O’Hearn wanted to know if there were any funny weed stories that Chong could share.
Tommy Chong explains that Arnold Schwarzenegger’s actions – smoking weed openly – signaled to other bodybuilders that the effects of marijuana were helpful and not detrimental to bodybuilding. If Schwarzenegger could be the best in the world while smoking weed – so could anyone.
Chong also tells some great stories involving fun times he has had with pro bodybuilders and smoking weed – including a fun game with a bong and an eighth of weed that would bring a lot of entertainment to the Golden Era bodybuilders.

Tommy Chong is a man with an interesting life, fantastically talented career, and a surprising amount of bodybuilding. Artur Beterbiev vs Joe Smith Jr. Will Be an Epic War

Artur Beterbiev vs Joe Smith Jr. will produce a knockout.
The battle between IBF and WBC light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev and WBO champion Joe Smith Jr. is sure to be quite the spectacle. Both men have a hungry go forward pressure still which usually results in them crushing their opposition. Now they are on a collision course for each other and the resulting meeting is likely to produce a knockout.
The boxing match between Artur Beterbiev and Joe Smith Jr. is must-see TV. Both men wish to impose their will, but both will apply different methods of arriving to their destination.
Artur Beterbiev
The Russian-Canadian powerhouse is truly a force to be reckoned with in the light heavyweight division. The IBF and WBC champion, Artur Beterbiev secured his position by force. Of his 17 victories the undefeated Beterbiev has stopped 16 of his opponents. It’s safe to say he’s a knockout artist.

Artur Beterbiev has an explosive leaping shuffle jab which is sure to give Smith Jr. problems. He explodes into the punch much like a karate fighter, finishing with a powerful right hand to follow up. Beterbiev is also a great counter puncher in the pocket. Should Smith Jr. be lazy with his jab, Beterbiev will counter with a slip and follow offense that could crush his opponent. Beterbiev is also ferocious at close range and should look to get into the pocket early and often.
Joe Smith Jr.
What’s interesting about this match up is how similar both fighters are. The biggest difference between the two could be that Joe Smith Jr. has nearly twice the fight experience as Beterbiev. Smith Jr. demolishes many of his opponents by knockout and recently won his WBO light heavyweight belt just a couple fights back. Now he’s hoping to collect two more belts as he faces off against Beterbiev.

Like his opponent, Joe Smith Jr. relies on his jab and forward pressure to set up his power punches. In particular Smith Jr. likes to throw the overhand after his lead hand set up. He should perhaps aim to switch levels on Beterbiev to keep him guessing. A jab to the head, then body followed by the overhand could be a successful approach for Smith Jr. He’ll have to be cautious while in the pocket as well as Beterbiev’s shorter reach can prove deadly in exchanges at both close and mid range.
