Robert Timms On Cheat Meals: “I Don’t Cheat. I Do Everything To The Gram”

Robert Timms On Cheat Meals: “I Don’t Cheat. I Do Everything To The Gram”

[embedded content]

Robert Timms shares his philosophy on whether or not pro bodybuilders can afford cheat meals.
In pro bodybuilding, genetics can have a large role in the success of an athlete. Hard work and dedication always reign supreme – but genetics will affect how far that hard work takes you. For example, every individual body reacts differently to food. Some can get away with eating “dirty” food more often. Some can’t afford it at all. Robert Timms is a genetically gifted pro bodybuilder. He has consistently gotten away with only 3 hours of sleep without adverse effects (so far).
So do those blessed genetics also afford him a cheat meal every so often? Robert Timms doesn’t even allow himself to risk it. Even with blessed genetics, he wants to be the best of the best – so why possibly set himself back with dirty foods? In our latest GI Exclusive interview, Robert Timms explains his philosophy behind cheat meals and why he avoids them at all costs.

There are two prevailing schools of thought when it comes to cheat meals in diets. One is that you avoid them at all times and focus on clean healthy foods. The other is to allow a limited amount of cheat meals. The idea behind the latter is that allowing the occasional cheat meal psychologically satisfies your cravings and makes you less likely to fall off your diet completely. We all have human desires for tasty food. To deny them completely would lead to an eventual crash from a person’s healthy eating habits.
During our conversation with Robert Timms, we asked him his thoughts on cheat meals. It’s been well established that Timms has impressive genes. So it’s likely he can afford the occasional cheat meal without issue. While that might be true, Timms refuses to risk it. He avoids all forms of dirty food 24/7. His reasoning, is that if he loses a show he will instantly think back to the cheat meal he treated to himself. Whether it was the real reason or not – his mind would shame him and blame the cheat meal for his loss.

Robert Timms also doesn’t see the reason to take that risk with cheat meals. With blessed genetics, he can use hard work and consistent dedication to be the best of the best. Meaning he wants to be the best of the other athletes with impressive genetics. If other bodybuilders sometimes cheat but he doesn’t – then he has an advantage.
“If I just go with just my genetics and then just eat whatever I want, yeah sure I would still be lean. But why not be the best I can be by keeping it clean.”
– Robert Timms
On top of this, Robert Timms also has seemingly trained himself out of desiring cheat meals through consistent and healthy eating habits. According to him, he does’t want or desire dirty foods anymore. It’s no longer a temptation for him. He mentions this in an anecdote from a conversation he had with his coach:
“I know the other athletes he is working with that need that for their mental clarity. Right? They need that. They need that burger because it’s been so long. No, I don’t need it… because I always look at the goal. The goal isn’t to feel better. The goal is to look the best you can on stage.”
Robert Timms understands that our desires when it comes to food is mostly self taught. Some of us build such a strong relationship to tasty food – that we need cheat meals to give us little gifts and avoid crashing completely. For Timms, he instead chose to go cold turkey and eventually retrain his brain to not desire dirty food or cheat meals. His desire to be the best helped him stick to this plan and eventually lose the “need” for cheat meals.

The Rock Shares Insane 100-Rep Workout To end Leg Day

The Rock Shares Insane 100-Rep Workout To end Leg Day

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has shown yet another exercise that will add necessary gains.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has always known a thing or two about weight lifting and he is not shy about showing it off. On Monday, that continued as The Rock shared a video on Instagram of an insane way to end leg-day work.
Johnson has always been a huge advocate of leg day. This is why he has continued to show off exercises to try at the gym and add extra muscle. In his most recent video, The Rock performs reloaded power squats on a hack machine. He completes four total sets with 25 reps to make it an even 100 in all.
“Bad ass song to train legs to????
Smashed leg training this morning and finished with this reloaded power squat 4×25.Give it a shot next leg day.* raise the foot platform to target certain areas of the quads and glutes.
These final 100 reps at the end of your leg training are brutal, but extremely productive.
Put yourself thru hell when you train, but especially on leg day.
Legs separate the men from the boys.
Don’t skip it ??
#ironparadise ???#itsaboutdriveitsaboutpower“

The Rock is seen using the hack squat machine backward. This is a different variation to hit different parts of the legs. This is usually seen performed like a reverse leg press machine. On a hack squat machine, the lifter’s feet are planted firmly on the platform with their shoulders under the pads that carry the weight. This brings more balance and stability in order to target certain muscles.

The lifts that Johnson does in the video shows him facing the opposite way under the pads of the machine. He lowers to the ground with form that looks more like a traditional squat. Johnson also raised the platform a bit. This targets the hamstrings and flutes — two muscles that many believe do not get hit as hard while performing on the hack squat machine.
Leave it to The Rock to find a new way to destroy legs at the end of a set. It is the movement being performed and the amount of reps that will leave legs pumped after performing an exercise such as this one. The Rock has displayed many workouts on Instagram over the years and that is not going to change.
If there is one star to focus on when performing in the gym, Johnson certainly has to be at the top of the list.

Jujimufu: Eddie Hall & Thor Bjornsson Boxing Is The “Best Thing For Their Personal Lives”

Jujimufu: Eddie Hall & Thor Bjornsson Boxing Is The “Best Thing For Their Personal Lives”

[embedded content]

Jujimufu believes Eddie Hall and Thor Bjornsson were smart to transform their physiques for boxing.
What started out as beef turned into a boxing match. That boxing match transformed the physiques and lives of two legendary Strongmen. Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson, after trading some heated words related to Strongman, were set to face each other in a boxing match for a special event. Hall ended up suffering a bicep injury putting off the event (for now) but both athletes remained focused on their boxing training. Thor even set up different matches to get some competition experience under his belt.
Now both athletes have become incredibly lean and shredded – a far cry from their original Strongman size and shape. Both have been astounding fitness transformations – and Jujimufu believes it was the smartest thing they could have done for their health and longevity. In our latest GI Exclusive interview, Jujimufu explains why now was the right time for both Eddie Hall and Thor Bjornsson to transition into boxing.

The idea of two Strongmen becoming boxers sounds a bit absurd on the surface. While these athletes are heavy lifters – that does not require nearly any of the required training and skill needed for the boxing ring. What could have been a stunt turned into an impressive life change for both Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson. Now over a year later, this seems like no stunt and rather a possible new future for both athletes.
Jujimufu is an athlete who is more than familiar with transitioning into a new fitness endeavor. Jujimufu started out with a life in calisthenics, stunts, and gymnastics and this past year transition into competitive bodybuilding to see where that leads. He just recently made his debut at the Olympia Amateur 2021. That’s why we asked him for his thoughts on Eddie Hall and Thor Bjornsson’s transition into boxing.

Jujimufu had nothing but positive things to say about the transition. In fact, he thinks that now was the perfect time for these two strongmen to make a change. They had already solidified their names as legends in Strongman. Moving to something new not only can lead to new opportunities but can also be a smart move for their personal health and future.
While strength is important in boxing, it’s also a very aerobic sport. Requiring endurance and bursts of speed. By not only focusing on strength and size, both Eddie Hall and Thor Bjornsson have made some incredible transformations to their physique. Thor in particular has dropped over 100 pounds.
“I think it was the best thing that both of them could have done for their personal lives,” Jujimufu stated in his interview. He continued:
“Because Thor just broke the deadlift record. Eddie Hall had the deadlift record for a while. They are both legendary strongmen in their own rights. But staying 450 pounds is not the smartest thing for their health in the long term… It’s genius. Let’s do a boxing match so it gives him a reason to lean down and get his health in a different state where he has more longevity. Thor looks amazing. He’s shredded.”
On top of the health benefit, their decision to do a boxing match has garnered a lot of attention. Will these two Strongmen become pro boxers? That might not be the case – but the matches Thor has done brought in numbers and certainly when he faces Hall it will be a blockbuster. This was a good business move and inspired them both to change their lifestyles possibly for the better.
You can watch Jujimufu’s full reaction to Eddie Hall and Thor Bjornsson’s boxing transformations in our latest GI Exclusive interview segment above!

Victor Richards Makes Statement On Recent Death Rumors

Victor Richards Makes Statement On Recent Death Rumors

Victor Richards spoke out recently on rumors from last week about his death.
On Wednesday, it was falsely reported that Victor Richards had passed away. After many reports began coming out, the daughter of Richards reached out directly to Generation Iron to confirm that he was alive and well. In fact, she spoke to Richards that day but he was unavailable to comment.
““I’M PLEASED TO ASSURE YOU THAT MY FATHER IS IN FACT ALIVE AND WELL. AN INACCURATE FACEBOOK POST HAS CAUSED A WILDFIRE OF FALSE INFORMATION THROUGHOUT SOCIAL MEDIA AND NEWS OUTLETS. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONCERN, MY FAMILY APPRECIATES ALL OF THE LOVE THE BODYBUILDING COMMUNITY HAS SHOWN TO MY DAD.”
On Saturday night, Victor Richards took to Facebook to release a video and make a statement on these rumors. Richards was seen in the video with his son and made a long statement as the caption.
“My dear brethren and family members, I want to let you know that I’m well and sound and have never been as healthy as I am today.

Victor Richards continued his message by explaining that he was spending some quality time with his son over the last week. Richards and his son had a busy schedule full of activities.

I’m sincerely sorry for the pain and heartache that the enemies have caused you through their venomous tongues. I did not mean to keep you in suspense but had my little 6 year old with me for the week and had made prior plans for some fun activities with him and there was no way I was going to allow the demonic spirits of slander, obstruction, destruction and death to disturb our peace. We thank God that the enemy did not have the power to disturb our space and peace as we were able to complete all our planned activities including a stay at the coast, visit to the aquarium and attending his basketball game today. It was extremely important for our spirits and sanity to stay away from social media and the phone during this period.
I must also admit that I’m very blessed and fortunate to have such loving fans, friends and family around the world that care so deeply about me. Your love and concern were deeply felt in my spirit and soul and I couldn’t be more thankful for it.
Please stay tuned for I shall be making a video announcement in the next couple of days. May the spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ continue to bless and protect you and your loves from the evil of wicked men.
I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ!?”

Victor Richards ended his message by thanking his family and friends, along with those who have cared for him. Richards will be making another video some time this week to make further comments.

2021 Texas State Pro-Am Results

Mehdi Larijani wins Classic Physique at the 2021 Texas State Pro-Am!
The 2021 Texas State Pro-Am took place on Saturday where Mehdi Larijani was able to take home the prize in the Classic Physique division. This is the event that highlighted the show in Austin, TX. Three divisions gathered to gain qualification to the 2022 Olympia in December of 2022.
This was a small show that took place weeks after Big Ramy defended his title in Orlando. This does not mean that it lacked quality as athletes showed up in their best shape looking to gain qualification to the Olympia. There were plenty of well-known names on stage on Saturday.

Larijani was active in 2020 but did not pick up a victory. He finished seventh at the Battle of Texas and fourth during the Chicago Pro last year. Larijani will not have a chance to take on some of the best in the world on the biggest stage. In Figure, Jessica Reyes Padilla took home gold and will prepare to compete in her sixth straight Olympia competition.
Padilla recently took the stage in Orlando and finished sixth in Figure. She was able to defeat Larhannah Robinson and Autumn Cleveland on stage in Austin. Rounding out the show was Yarishna Ayala Otero and Wellness. Sunny Andrews entered the competition as a dark-horse to win and ended up with the bronze medal. Otero earned qualification to the Olympia and has put her name on the map heading into 2022.

There were three bids handed out to the Olympia, which is set to take place in Las Vegas next year. The full results have been announced from the Texas State Pro-Am and they can be found below, along with the official score cards!

Mohamed El Emam Injured In Car Accident, Will Not Compete For At Least 6 Months

Mohamed El Emam Injured In Car Accident, Will Not Compete For At Least 6 Months

Mohamed El Emam is stable after being involved in a car accident – but will not be able to train or compete for some time.
Pro bodybuilder Mohamed El Emam has been injured in a car accident in St. Petersburg Russia. He did not suffer life threatening injuries but has claimed he will not be able to train or compete for at least six months. The news was announced via his Instagram on Friday, November 11, 2021.
Mohamed El Emam is a Men’s Open pro bodybuilder who has been rising through the ranks over the past three years. Most recently he had competed in the KO Pro Egypt competition and placed fourth. He also competed at the Arnold Classic 2021 and placed 7th. He is a bodybuilder with a promising physique that has been garnering hype from fans as he’s progressed through the sport.

Unfortunately, now it seems his progress has to be put on hold. According to a recent post from his Instagram, he was involved in some sort of car accident. Though he keeps the details vague – he confirms that the event was not life threatening. However, he has sustained enough injury to prevent him from training.
Below is a translated excerpt from his Instagram post:
“I had a car accident in the city of Saint Petersburg, Russia! It is difficult to get back to training now, given that I have had an injury, and it will also be difficult to participate in tournaments in the coming period; pray for me for a speedy recovery… It is very difficult for me to return to the gym now; also performances at competitions I think not more than half a year, many injuries.”

Before competing in the Arnold Classic 2021 earlier this year, Generation Iron had the opportunity to sit down with Mohamed El Emam for a video interview. We discussed his bodybuilding origins, his training tactics, and what he planned for the future of his career.
[embedded content]
Unfortunately, this accident will most definitively change his future plans for the time being. We do not know specifically at this moment what kind of injuries he has sustained – so it is not clear if any of these injuries can lead to permanent damage affecting his pro bodybuilding career.
Based on Mohamed El Emam’s Instagram post, he remains hopeful. He claims to have had “many injuries” but also expects to be able to start training and competing after six months. If this is true, this might simply be a small bump in the road in comparison to the bigger picture of his bodybuilding career.
The entire staff here at Generation Iron wishes Mohamed El Emam a speedy recovery. Generation Iron will also provide updates to this story and El Emam’s recovery progress as more information becomes available.

The ‘Iranian Hulk’ Is Preparing For Boxing Match Against Martyn Ford By Punching Walls

The ‘Iranian Hulk’ Is Preparing For Boxing Match Against Martyn Ford By Punching Walls

The ‘Iranian Hulk’ has added some crazy tactics to his training.
We know that Sajad Gharibi, known as the ‘Iranian Hulk,’ is set to take on Martyn Ford in a boxing match on April 2. What you might not know is that Gharibi is taking his training to an entirely new level.
The Iranian Hulk has been sharing videos of himself doing some crazy things in preparation for his fight. This includes smashing watermelons, bending metal, and yes — punching walls. This does not seem like tactics that will help his boxing style but it certainly shows that Gharibi is not afraid and has incredible strength.

Gharibi and Ford could have a name for their fight as well. This is following in the footsteps of Hafthor Bjornsson and Eddie Hall. The fight between the two former strongmen has been dubbed the “World’s Strongest Fight.” The bout between Gharibi and Ford can be known as the “World’s Scariest Fight.” This might be why the Iranian Hulk is partaking in some reckless training methods.

This is a fight that has become personal as both sides have made comments back and forth. For Ford, he has focused his training on movement rather than weight lifting. This has allowed him to get lighter in preparation.

Ford is an athlete that has been training in MMA, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and boxing. This is why he was comfortable taking on Gharibi in any type of match. As for the Iranian Hulk, he is an alleged MMA fighter but has not stepped in the ring for an official match.
Ford later published a more official post providing promotional artwork and a link to RSVP for pre-ordering ticket.

“I would absolutely LOVE to put on an event you guys will NEVER forget, this to me is very personal …. things have been said that can’t be taken back, by numerous people in his circle. I will release exactly what at the press conference and YOU will see just why this is so personal to me. I cant promise you the most technical fight in the world .. BUT I will promise you that I will bring my absolute EVERYTHING and turn this into an EVENT you will NEVER forget,” ford wrote.
There is an official date and venue set. The fight will take place at the O2 Arena in London. Both men are extremely confident heading into the match and there is no shortage of drama or storylines leading up to it.
