I f I have one muscle I could really just get fckn huge it would be my calves. I have really gotten them to grow in just the last year or so. I tried everything. High reps, low reps, heavy weight and lighter weight. What has really helped me is just doing 2 exercises with 4 to 5 sets on each. But, with at least 12 to 20 reps with the heaviest weight I can handle for that many reps. Not to mention cardio has really helped my total leg devlopment. This has worked wonders for me. If you seen what my calves used to look like you would agree. Just out of curiosity, what do you feel works best for you calve development????????
 
I like statics. You have to give the muscle something it's not used to. Every time you take a step your calf is doing a "rep". I have used a pedometer before and on an average day I take around 20,000 steps. If the muscle handles that without any problem why would 30 or 40 more reps with a couple extra hundred pounds make much difference? I use heavy weight, good stretch, and then contract and hold as long as possible.
 
I'm glad this question got asked as I was about to so same. I was always taught to rise up on your big toe each rep and sort of dig in the block with the same big toe.

Can anyone also advise on which exercises to do first to last, I've always done standing,next calf press on cybex leg press and have ended with either seated or donkeys. 3-4 sets per. Is this correct?
 
i like doing toe presses, and standing calve raise. i do quarter reps from the top and bottom. and full reps with a good stretch.

I totally agree!!!! I bet I walk around 10 miles a day at work easy. The key for me is to hold the stretch at the bottom for a count of 5 then hold the top for a count of five. It's fckn brutal, but tottaly worth it!!!!!

That's pretty much what I do, a lot of reps with heavy weight, and it has worked very well.
 
I'll hold at the top also, but I have to watch going too far down on the stretch because I've had problems with my achilles because of this. I mean we get micro tears which are nothing, but I was really stretching and I could tell it was much more than a micro tear so now I have to be careful
