I did because I was sick of listening people rant about gun laws when it should have been more about the kids

The car argument is quite silly . And If they came over with bats ..I'd pitch em some balls .. Have a game in the back yard ..

well you brought over your liberal beliefs so people are going to turn this into a political discussion-the post kinda got hijacked and strayed away from the subject

and as far as pitching somebody with baseball bats some balls- funny...no not really

but I guess that's the best comeback you could come up with

back in the 1960's baseballs never worked with the Mafia when they showed up with bats

Someone had to bring a different prospective .. It was all one sided ...You never did tell me how you were going to solve the problem of crazies being able to buy guns out of bubble gum machines . It happened 3x that I know of this year ..

I am amusing because if taken the other way it sounded like an actual threat and we know that doesnt happen on MC does it ? I would hope not ..

Baseball bats with 5 of your friends ?

I went to the grocery store just now, its like a good 12 minutes from the scene..and it is empty..My town is a ghost town in mourning. There might have been 5 people in the store...One was a blonde hair blue eyed girl with her mom, about 5-6 years old...She was bagging the groceries and laughing and every single person in the store and workers stopped and watched this child...

Everyone literally paused and smiled and watched her leave...a few of the women's smiles turned into cries...Just her innocence appreciated and to know that was taken from 20 children...we all were on the same line of thought at that moment.

people are very very nice to each other around here all day today, the way it should be...

People are appreciative of what they have today I hope it is not forgotten.

I went to my daughters room and just looked at her toys, dolls, clothes and thought how lucky I am..Several families a few miles away will never be able to experience their child in their rooms, for Christmas, never see them again.

It kills me to think of as a parent. Literally unbearable. I would just die. I have never been so upset over something that didn't directly happen to me...Partially because it was so close and relative to myself, but mainly because I love children and would take a bullet for any one of them...and to know they were helplessly murdered simply is engulfing and angering.

This event will change my daughters and my life forever. I don't feel safe for her at school...Not sure what to even do.

yeah how are you going to stop crazies from buying baseball bats and smashing in your brains? How are you going to stop crazies from buying knives I'm sure China would like to know...

and the idiot in the mall stole the gun and the idiot today had his mom buy the gun for him

I'm sure none of them where bought out of a bubble gum machine, noticed on your handle that you don't reside in the US... it's about a 30-45 minute process to purchase a firearm while they do a background check

We do have some restrictions here .Yes there is crime and shooting but our last significant multiple death killing spree was in 1989 if I'm correct( quebec) .. .. There has got to be a connection somewhere .Truthfully it's so incredibly sad to see the news today ( and last week ) ..It seems just too easy to possess assault weapons there ..The common thread is some kid ..probably bullied and angry at the world takes it out on innocent people knowing full well he will probably die too . At least the craycray could have done was do himself in instead of killing all of those kids . I guess he thinks he will get the fame and he gets his wish with way too much media coverage . I can't help but wonder if it just gives other nutbars the idea to copy him .. Looks that way with 3 major killings this year .It painful and frustrating to see and although not sure of the solution allowing more efficient killing weapons doesnt seem like the answer .. Yes . he could have stabbed or run over them but at least more kids might have survived ..Better than none surviving the way it went down .. bless their little souls .

Well said.

There are so many emotions that everyone is feeling. I never cry, ever, and I lost it and almost it reading the part about the little girl you just told us.

I was flying back from Florida today and sat next to 3 babies and for 6 damn hours I kept staring at them and just wanted to hold them. Innocence impacts everyone and i kept thinking about what a parent will do to protect their own child and any child for that matter. we should remember that it's one persons fault in this travesty.

Prayers out to you man ..it must be hell living there right now . All the best and the best for your kids

I do see what your saying and agree with all the bullshit media coverage...this is the propaganda used to sell the idea of gun control and in the process give the other crazy fuckers a great idea

as for efficient killing weapons, the crazy fuckers in 9/11 used airplanes...no matter what you do they will still be crazy and figure out how to harm people

look at the situation with the 11-year old skeet shooting girl, the 2 creepy assholes broke into her house while she was there alone and she shot them...

someone breaks into my house when my wife is alone, I don't care what kind of weapon if any they have unless she has a gun (which she does) she's fucked she won't be able to fight anyone off

Buckns - I agree with you on most points (I'm in Montreal here - unfortunately home to many of the last - gun-related school shootings). As much as I understand the "right to bear arms", *maybe* just *maybe* it could be made just a *little* harder to do so? I don't know....checking to see if you or family that lives with you is a nut job? Keeping it restricted to non-rapid-fire weapons? There was an old statistic in the 90s, I think...that compared Toronto and Chicago --> at the time, roughly the same size of population, basically the same (North American) media exposure, but one with American and one with Canadian access to guns. At the time, Chicago's *monthly* gun-related deaths were more than Toronto's *annual* one. Don't tell me that gun control has *nothing* to do with it. What you have is a vicious cycle - you need guns, because everyone has guns, so to defend yourself, you need guns, which means *they* need guns..etc. And yes, Switzerland has a special situation. Every able-bodied male between 18 and 65 has a gun - and has been *trained* on how to use it...you can't just go and by one down the street. I believe they don't keep it after their militia time ends. Another factor - as hard as it is to hear - maybe the US culture has degraded to the point that a *maturity* test is what is needed. That is, if you can't prove you're mature enough, your right to own a gun is overridden by the rights of others to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" In the same way we don't let everyone drive if they can't prove (at least once) that they can actually do it safely. Just a thought. Our thoughts go out to families of today's victims - who should *never* have been victims. You want to kill yourself - go ahead - just don't take innocent lives with you.

One last point - yes, you can kill people with a bat, or a knife - but killing *27* before someone stops you? You must have locked yourself in a room with kids to do that...any adults would realize that you can't beat people to death in 1/10 of a second - so 2 more more jump the bat/knife swinger at a time, and he/she is finished. If they're carrying a semi-automatic or automatic weapon...well...all bets are off, unless you have a *lot* of people to jump at the same time.

I see your point and I do agree . Truthfully in that situation I would want one too . It doesn't seem to be as big a fear where I live . We do on some level feel safer .. Maybe we are naive and anything can happen . I also think that people should be able to carry weapons for hunting .sport and protection ..I feel that it should be a little more difficult to get assault weapons . Longer waits ..etc .. It might slow the crazies down ..Unfortunately when they are that evil it is a difficult task . I just think there should be a compromise somehow than " all or nothing gun laws ".. It doesnt seem to be working now based on the last few months ..It 's not about taking away rights more about coming up with a solution . Maybe there is none but trying something is better than keeping it the same .. The sad thing is that the mother bought all of those weapons .. She should have bought him a therapy instead

now I agree 100% with that, she should have got him help

instead she and all these poor children and families paid the price

whole thing is just terrible

don't really agree with the last paragraph, I don't care what someone has in their hands if they get hit over the head with something...it's lights out

walk up behind someone with a gun, knife, bat, etc and hit them with a rock it's lights out

That's the way things used to be in this country and I wish it was still the same. Yes, I'm the first to get pissed over the dumbest stuff, but that's inherited over time and I think that if everyone just treated each other with compassion and respect things like this could be avoided, maybe not entirely, but you'd take the hate factor out of it

idk if anyone knows or wesley would know, but some friends here in wisconsin are curious where to donate to the families...which is legit donations...i'm sure some scammers will pop up, but my friends are curiously as they want to help out

Yes things are popping up locally already, this quickly..I know there I hear about a toy drive in honor of the children for local kids, and on the local news they have a legit donation, when the news comes on I will get it again. Right now there are hundreds maybe thousands of people attending a prayer vigil...that's the current thing people are involved in.

Tomorrow morning I will post up an address and location for your friends and anyone else interested in helping out. I think I may personally help one of the local drives, like the toy one and bring my daughter with me if it is this upcoming week.

very thoughtful of you Irish :)

None of the kids stabbed died in China .. 20 kids died from gunshot wounds from automatic guns that his mother bought him . He killed her too .. maybe that's her karma .. Do the math ..limit the kind of guns sold and stricter restrictions on those who buy them ..At least it's an effort ..or should 5 year olds carry guns to school and fire back ? A nut job is a nut job .. but bitching about a revolution or your rights ain't saving lives either . is it ?

Lol!! I think I just shit myself! I didn't think it was possible to laugh in regards to this horrific tragedy, but you made it happen!
If only they would have listened to you!
I'm sure that psycho would've gotten up this morning and said "man I'd really like to massacre a bunch of elementary kids, its too bad guns are illegal. I for sure don't want to break the law to live out my psychotic vision"
