I've been having terrible lower back pain lately. I'm thinking it maybe a herniated disc or a nerve problem. It constantly aches...especially while I'm sitting. It bothers me when I'm standing as well.

I was fixing some wires in back of my computer the other day and I was on my hands and knee's for about 5-10 minutes. My back started hurting really bad and it also felt like my lower body was going partially numb.

On a side note I believe it may be caused from doing heavy dead lifts about a year ago. I just completed a set of 5x455lbs. On the 5th one my lower back felt weird and once I let the weight go my lower back and legs went numb. It went away after about 10 minutes of laying on the ground. My back went numb about 30 minutes later for 30-40 minutes while I was laying at home. It went away and I didn't really have too many problems after that until now.

The pain radiates from my lower spine outwards. There are two spots about 1/2" on either side of my spine that hurt fairly bad if I push on it. It been hurting for 2 weeks now consistantly and it's getting worse.

I would appreciate any responses from members that have experienced this or other back problems...including symptoms and treatment if possible. Thanks guys and gals.

BTW I've been taking 800mg of Ibuprofen 2-3x per day and it's not helping the pain at all. I don't have medical insurance right now so if I need to go to the doctor I want to make sure it's something worth going for. lol.

i had a chiropractor herniate my C-6~C-7 so bad, i had to have surgery...the pain was UNBELIEVABLE!!!! i have NEVER FELT pain like it in my life:(

i would get "charlie horses" down my right arm (when there was any feeling at all there, my tricep still has no reflex) and my entire upper back would "cramp" every nite with no relief....

usually a "bulging" disc will cause nerves to be pinched as all nerves start at the spinal column. are you feeling numb in any areas?

i think you need to get an MRI done, if you can get to a walk in clinic, you may be better off using a "prescription" dose anti-inflammatory....."Bextra" or "Vioxx" worked good for me (mind you i had to take morphine for the pain for 3 months prior to surgery)

It seems I've had a chronic back problem since I was about 17 or so. I've used Ibuprofen, and Vioxx. The vioxx didn't help too much.

I just want to get some relief for the time being until I have medical insurance again (hopefully soon) so I can get an MRI done and not have to worry about the costs so much.

sounds similiar to my problem I had a tear in my L-5 feels like the pain is towards either side but the tear is in the middle. I went on corticosteroids and did plenty of stretching I'd absolutely stay away from squats and deadlifts

corticosteroids are the WORST THING you can take, they wanted to inject my spine with them....not a freaking chance. corticosteroids chew up muscle tissue so fast, it's unbelievable...it's suggested you only use them a few times in your entire life!!!!!!

dude get a MRI,, if ur legs go numb or have any unusual nerological activity , then it could be from ur out of place disc which is pushing against ur nervous system, which is sending unregulated activity down ur legs, and thats a big no no

Back Problems..

Where to began....I was SOFD in the military and always carried 90 lbs ruck sacks for up to 20-30km at times. Have always hit the wieghts the only way I know how, "HARD AND HEAVY TIL THE DAY I DIE!!" So you might say, yea, I have back problems at times too.

85% of all back problems will heal on their own w/out surgery given time to recuperate and rest. Learn that in my field asctually. Now, what I would recommend is Skelaxin(metaxalone 800mg) or Flexaril(cyclobenzaphrine HCl 5mg). Both are effect and will help the injury heal in a matter of a week or so. The will also help with the pain. If you want to try them, shoot me an addy and I will get some free samples to send from our Drug Rep at the Doctors office.

Hope you feel better Iron Bro!!

I bump QOD regarding the cortisone. One of my present problems is extensive use of cortisone for injuries to my scapula. Now I have problems with knees, back and elbows due to the cortisone shots and cream I used for pain relief which caused extensive collagen wasting. At the time I took the stupid route of any relief is better than the pain. If I could go back I would just "grin and bear it" untill it healed.
I bump her on the MRI as well.
avoid major surgery if possible. Microsurgery is better than a titanium cage.
