O snap

During leg day last week I went heavy on leg press (well heavy for me) 6 plates each side. On the 4 rep last set I felt a snap or a pop in my right side ribs. Gave myself 3 days before I went back to the gym. Today I hit chest a d tri's and I couldn't hardly push any weight at all do to the pain in my rib. Anyone ever experience anything like this?

Anytime I go heavy on leg press, I always feel like something is ready to pop. That's when I have to take a second to focus.

Yep. I had it happen. It was on squats. Honestly I dont know what it was, but it was painful and took forever to heal. Good luck bro. Ice it and don't do anything that bothers it.
 
I had a pop in my head during leg press once and it scared the shit out of me. I literally laid on the leg press waiting to pass out or die lol.
 
it is the muscle or cartilage between the ribs themselves. Its pretty common. Happens alot on leg press due to the ribcage expanding. It will heal with time.
 
Yeah it really sucks! It's not really to painful unless I try to push some weight. Hope it heals soon. At first I thought it was almost like a hernia or something. The weridest thing I've ever felt to date!!
 
I've seen guys wrapped their ribs like they have cracked ribs after this happening, they say it helps, I've never had it happen to me so I can't attest to that, but maybe try it and see. It obviously can't make things worse. I'd just ice it and take it easy
 
It's what Nuk said exactly.. I had a slight pop in my leg on a fricken hammerstrength smith machine real heavy 495 and I was alone and I swear someone came up from behind and slugged my hamstring .. I racked quick, looked behind, saw no one and sat down and blacked out for a minute .. I went home and couldnt walk next day.. Never squatted on a smith machine again and will never .
 
Well looksike I'm gonna have to take some times off to let this heal up. Yesterday I hit chest and it seemed to make the pain worse. I'm gonna give it a week and see how it heals up.

Yeah ice it up when you can. And stay away from it for a couple three weeks..
 
Ive had this happen in my rib area twice. Its very painful, takes a while to heal, and hurts when you take deep breaths. I dont know what it is, but it sounds like Nuk's got it right. It feels like something gets hung on your rib cage, then suddenly lets loose! Ouch. I feel for ya. Just give it time.
 
Yeah, this or something similar happened on leg press the other day. On my last set (also with 6 plates per side) I felt a stabbing pain right below my rib cage. I initially thought I tore something internally, but the pain subsided after a while. Just rest up and you should be good to go.
