Diet or Cardio? I am a personal trainer, and I have clients that dont wont to do one or the other. Its mostly women, but this just kills me. So my questions is, if I have someone wanting to lose weight, which way would be the fastest? Have them do cardio and no diet or Put them on a diet and no cardio?

I swear I have people that only want to do one or the other. People today just make me sick. Lazy Bastards!

i say diet. no amount of cardio will make up for someone leaving the gym and heading to BK

100% all diet... Get get them on a 1,000 - 1,500 Callories/per day diet they will drop weight..
Only problem is if they are too lazy to begin with then they will cheat on their meals and stay fat!

diet all day..short term cardio and actually working out..the body will respond fast as it is not use to it..but that will level out

diet is everthing

Diet unless you have thyroid issues and it is really both. I have thyroid issues and at 1800 cals at 230 I gain fat unless I do cardio.

diet.
alter their training to make it high paced for a cardio effect.
gotta "trick" them into doing cardio through there weight training.

I agree with Dreww..

I too have clients that arent motivated enough to do both cardio and diet, but train with me 3 nights a week. So I make sure their diet is in order (whether they follow it or not is another story) but I will throw cardio into their workout. Whether its half miles on the elliptical in between groups or with drop sets/super sets/giant sets just to keep their heart rate up. Another suggestion is to have them jump rope in between sets or mimic the jump rope motion. I read 8 minutes of jump rope is fairly equal to 30 min of cardio. If you do 4 groups with your client have them bang out 2 min of jump rope after each.

Its frustrating when people dont see things the way you do. I deal with very wealthy clients and going out to eat is part of their lifestyle. Most of them eat what they want even though they shouldn't, do cardio when motivated, and just use the 3hrs with me a week to break even.

I gave each of them a copy of Michi's Ladder to put on their fridge just to give them an idea of how bad some of their favorites are for them
