Milos Sarcev: The Biggest Weaknesses Roelly Winklaar Must Improve To Dominate

Milos Sarcev: The Biggest Weaknesses Roelly Winklaar Must Improve To Dominate

[embedded content]

Milos Sarcev reflects on Roelly Winklaar’s struggles in 2021 and what he needs to do to dominate on the bodybuilding stage once again.
Roelly Winklaar is a beloved pro bodybuilder and often called the people’s champ by many fans. This is due to Winklaar’s enormous mass monster size that nearly shakes the earth whenever he steps on stage. Though he’s gotten close, the competitor has never earned a Mr. Olympia title. However, he has often been a top 5 competitor that many hoped would rise up to win one day. These hopes were somewhat dashed in 2021, with Roelly Winklaar placing lower than expected and also dropping out of select shows. In our latest GI Exclusive interview, Milos Sarcev breaks down Roelly Winklaar’s 2021 physique and explains what needs to improve for success in 2022.
Many fans were shocked when Roelly Winklaar placed 11th at the 2021 Mr. Olympia. It was a large drop down for the elite competitor – who placed 5th in 2019 and 3rd in 2018 at the Mr. Olympia. However, the moment Winklaar stepped on stage last year, it was clear something was off. It wasn’t the people’s champ mass monster physique fans were used to.

That’s why we turned to bodybuilding coach and guru Milos Sarcev to give his thoughts on Roelly Winklaar’s 2021 physique. He pinpointed the two biggest weaknesses Winklaar is facing – and how he needs to improve them to become a dominant force on the stage once again. Milos believes it’s possible and even spoke briefly with Winklaar sharing his advice.
Roelly Winlaar’s biggest weaknesses

Milos Sarcev starts off by stating one big weakness that Roelly Winklaar has always suffered from – his conditioning. Much like Big Ramy, Winklaar is one of the biggest mass monster in the Men’s Open division. And also like Big Ramy, Winklaar often suffers from controlling his stomach and maintaining dry shredded conditioning. This was still evident in 2021, perhaps even slightly worse than in previous years. That lack of conditioning – in combination with another weak lagging body part – was the key element to his lower placing.
So what was that second weakness? Milos Sarcev believes that Roelly Winklaar’s legs were lacking. Of course, bringing up legs is always the hardest body part for most pro Men’s Open competitors. But when you are competing on the elite stage and battling the top five in the world – lacking in the leg department will knock you out of the top 5 or even top 10 at Mr. Olympia. That’s what seemed to happen here.
Milos Sarcev reveals during our interview that Roelly Winklaar spoke to him after his low placing at the Chicago Pro. According to Sarcev, Winklaar was actually worried that his size had gotten too small which is why he was placing low. Sarcev admitted that Winklaar had downsized slightly – but this was not in fact his weakness.
“He asked me what is my opinion and he thought he was much smaller. I said like, yeah. As smaller as he was he was still big enough. That wasn’t the problem. But he needed conditioning and he needed legs. So in other shows that he entered he tried to put size back on and by Prague he was humongous… but still the conditioning was not there.”
– Milos Sarcev
Milos Sarcev went on to say that Roelly Winklaar putting back on more size might have actually hurt him for the rest of his competitive season that year. Sarcev explains that for him to put on so much size so quickly – he lost even more control of his midsection.
Roelly Winklaar may have had a tough year – but we wouldn’t count him out just yet. Yes, he has been competing for quite some time and comes from an older era of the sport. But athletes like Dexter Jackson have proved that age is just a number. And while Big Ramy is somewhat younger – it did take him nearly a decade to become the Mr. Olympia champion. Winklaar is an experienced competitor with a passion for the sport. We are excited to see what he brings to the stage in 2022.
You can watch Milos Sarcev’s full comments on Roelly Winklaar (and some talk abotu Chris Bumstead’s dominance as well) in our latest GI Exclusive interview segment above.

2022 World’s Strong Man Event List Revealed: Includes Return Of Car Walk, Bus Pull

2022 World’s Strong Man Event List Revealed: Includes Return Of Car Walk, Bus Pull

The 2022 World’s Strongest Man Competition will feature some classic events from the past.
The 2022 World’s Strongest Man competition is scheduled for May 24-29 at the Capitol Mall in Sacramento. The full lineup of competitors has been revealed and now, there is a lineup of events.
On Wednesday, the 2022 WSM event list came out and it features some returning classic from year’s past with new events. This year’s event will feature the first-ever Deadlift Ladder and Wrecking Ball Hold. In this particular event, athletes must get a massive wrecking ball off the ground and hold it for as long as they can. Fans will also enjoy the return of the Bus Pull and Car Walk.

This will be a five-day event in total. The first three days of the week will be qualifiers with the following two days being finals to decide the winner. A breakdown of some of the top events can be found below, along with the event schedule and list of competitors.
Atlas Stones
Atlas Stones have become known as the signature event during the WSM competition. This event began in 1986 where athletes are required to lift five heavy, circular stones onto platforms spanning from 100 to 160kg. The platforms go from 16-feet high to 33 feet.

The progression of this event has become more difficult for strongmen over time. When it was initially introduced, the platforms were waist high but have since gotten higher and the stones have increased in weight.
Bus Pull
This will bring back the vehicle pull in the form of Bus Pull at the WSM competition where competitors will have to move a Sacramento Regional Transit Bus weighing about 40,000 pounds in a race against time.
The overall vehicle pull was introduced in 1977. Over the years, the vehicles have included trams, buses, boxcars, and planes. This is where athletes pull the monstrous machine on a 100-foot course by hand as quick as they can.
Car Walk
During this event, athletes will strap a vintage Volkswagen bug to their shoulders and race down a 25-meter course. This is another timed event to see who can complete the course in the fastest time.
In the past, strongmen have made this event look much easier than it actually is. This is an event that combines leg strength to lift and keep the car off the ground with upper body strength to keep the car steady in the arm. The car must remained balanced so the tires do not hit the floor.
Power Stairs
Power stairs combines power and speed as competitors must carry massive amounts of weight up stairs to complete the course.
These items usually range from 182-273kg in weight and must be lifted to the top of the stairs. Athletes must be in shape to show stamina while using speed to take down other competitors and explosive power to go from stair to stair.
Loading Race
This event is exactly what it sounds like. Competitors have to lift different items weighing between 250 and 500 pounds and load them on platforms. This is a timed event where the strongman who can finish in the quickest time will win.
In the past, items such as sandbags, lobster pots, masts, beer kegs, wine casks have been the weight needing to be moved. The overall weight of the objects is on the lighter side for strongmen but all objects are awkward in shape, which makes them difficult to pick up and control.
Deadlift Ladder
Deadlifts are one of the biggest lifts in powerlifting and strongman. The Deadlift Ladder consists of different bars that go up in weight from 650 to 750 pounds.
This is the first time that this event will be featured in the WSM competition. Medleys have been part of strongman competitions where athletes have to manage their strength and energy in order to make it from beginning to end.

Charles Glass Warns About Uncertain PEDs: ‘You’re Taking Something Totally Different That’s Going To Mess You Up’

Charles Glass Warns About Uncertain PEDs: ‘You’re Taking Something Totally Different That’s Going To Mess You Up’

Charles Glass recently spoke on the uncertainty of certain PEDs out there.
Charles Glass is one of the pioneers of bodybuilding. In retirement, he has built a reputation as an elite bodybuilding coach because of his intense workout programs and attention to detail. Glass always brings different insights and wisdom to his workouts and recently, he did the same regarding PED use.
Glass took some time to discuss the angers of PEDs and it is not what many others have said. It is clear that steroid use has negatively impacted athletes and their bodies over the years. There has been a recent string of deaths that has hit the world hard. This includes Shawn Rhoden and George Peterson at the end of 2021. Recently, Cedric McMillan passed away suddenly.

The effect that PEDs have on internal organs is clear but Glass continued to explain how athletes might not even know what they are putting in their bodies. He explains that it is important to be able to correctly identify a product. This has become more and more difficult.
“There’s more counterfeit drugs out. There’s more fake drugs out. You think you’re taking this, and you’re not taking that. You’re taking something totally different that’s going to mess you up,” Charles Glass said.
Charles Glass goes over the process that athletes take to find the right PEDs. In some cases, bodybuilders will opt for a cheaper version of the drug, even if they do not exactly know what is in it. When it is cheap, Glass explains that it comes from underground labs that are interested in making money.
“Why would you take it, you don’t know what’s in there but if you by testosterone for $30, and this guy sells it for $50, who you going to buy it from? The $30 person because it’s cheaper. It doesn’t mean it’s good, but it’s cheaper.”

The sport of bodybuilding is now judging which competitors can come in with the most size and mass while remaining conditioned. The Men’s Open competitors are larger than life in today’s era and this is because they want to put on as much size as possible.
Charles Glass believes that building size on the body over time is healthier than those who want to get the fastest result possible.
“Take your time, build slow, let it happen. You gotta understand I was a gymnast in college. I was already strong. I wasn’t even taking no drugs and I was able to lift heavy. Well, considering how much I weigh, heavy.
The thing of it is, I would say about thirty or mid to late thirties is when you start seeing performance because when I got in, I could bench 425 lbs without anything. But it went to 500 (lbs) when I was taking it you know, that’s the difference. Yeah, but I weighed a 138 lbs and I could lift 425 (lbs) easy but people told me you got to gain weight, you got to gain weight. So, in my mind, well if I can get to 155 lbs I’ll be better. I got to 155 (lbs) and my strength went up.”
This recent string of deaths in bodybuilding has made others speak out on the issues as well. This has become a problem and one that many believe must be fixed, whether it is safer practices or better recognition of the drugs. Charles Glass believes it starts with where the drugs come from.

Benzino To Fight Aaron Carter After Failing To Lure 50 Cent Into Match

Benzino To Fight Aaron Carter After Failing To Lure 50 Cent Into Match

Benzino did his best to set up a fight with 50 Cent but was unsuccessful.
It looks as though Benzino will have a fight set up in the ring but not exactly with who he wanted. The Love & Hip Hop star has been attempting to get 50 Cent to box him but has been unsuccessful. Instead, he will have to settle for a match with Aaron Carter.
TMZ learned of this arrangement from Celebrity Boxing’s Damon Feldman. The contract has been signed by both men and the fight is scheduled for June 11 at the Charles Dodge Center in Pembroke Pines, FL. There is no exact word on how this fight will be structured.

It is clear that Benzino and 50 Cent have had their issues for awhile now. This includes calling each other snitches when it comes to federal issues. Benzino has called out the rapper but has not gotten the outcome that he wanted. Now, Carter is stepping in on behalf of one of his favorite rappers.
Aaron Carter shared a video on Instagram once this fight was announced.
“Why would you make fun and pick at one of my favorite rappers, 50 Cent. Why would you do that, huh?
“I will meet you in the ring and we can dance and we can have fun. it will be so much fun, right? this is a legend so don’t call yourself a legend. Nobody believes it, you little cry baby.”

This will be the first celebrity boxing match involving Benzino while Carter has competed before. In his first and only match to this point, Carter was knocked out by Lamar Odom in the first round. Carter has remained active on social media and believes he will have an edge in this match.
“A message to BENZINO let’s dance! I fought a giant and ended up with three concussions and was still standing! I’m curious to see how this plays out…. I had the BIGGEST celebrity boxing match EVER w @celebrityboxing1 and Damon So you’re lucky I’m even giving you this platform. MY LAST POST WAS REMOVED but you CANT remove me!! I’m back and this time it’s gonna hurt. @celebrityboxing1 I’ll be waiting for my contract. Have a blessed day ?,” aaron carter wrote on instagram.
Aaron Carter believes that his match with Odom will put him in an advantageous position. Benzino will have a chance to get a fight under his belt just in case 50 Cent ever wants to step in the ring. To this point, it seems unlikely.

Jay Cutler Speaks On Cedric McMillan’s Legacy: ‘One Of The Best Physiques We Have Seen In Quite Some Time’

Jay Cutler Speaks On Cedric McMillan’s Legacy: ‘One Of The Best Physiques We Have Seen In Quite Some Time’

Jay Cutler reflects on Cedric McMillan’s time in bodybuilding and how special his physique was.
It has been a couple weeks now since the bodybuilding world lost another legend in Cedric McMillan. This is another death that has hit the sport hard and many have been remembering McMillan in different ways. Jay Cutler spoke on his podcast about the legacy that McMillan built on stage and how he will be remembered.
On a recent episode of Cutler Cast, the bodybuilding legend spoke on his time spent with McMillan during his prime.

“He was a big figurehead in our industry and he was someone people looked upon. And He was one of the big aesthetic guys and probably one of the best physiques we have seen in quite some time. It’s just always very hard to peak perfect. I remember when I saw him in the Nationals, I just said like this guy could be like the next Ronnie Coleman.”
Jay Cutler made comparisons for Cedric McMillan to Ronnie Coleman early in his career. This is a competitor that Cutler knows very well given their own history. In 2006, Cutler won his first Olympia title, ending Coleman’s eight-year reign as champion on the biggest stage.
Cutler continued to speak on the sport of bodybuilding and the recent string of deaths. Shawn Rhoden and George Peterson passed away at the end of 2021 and these were other instances where the sport was shaken up.

There are many competitors who have won the Olympia and found themselves at the top of bodybuilding at age 30 and 40. Cutler believes that bodybuilding is a young man’s game.
“I’m just gonna state what my thought on all this is, okay. I’ve said it before. You know bodybuilding used to be a young man’s game… Chris Dickerson won Mr. Olympia at around 40. Obviously, we saw Shawn Rhoden win (Mr. Olympia) at 43. There’s not to say you can’t do it. But is it suggestive to be a competitive bodybuilder on that level into your 40s? I think not.”
Jay Cutler put together one of the best bodybuilding careers of all-time. He has maintained an elite physique in retirement but does not believe competitors should maintain this championship physique preparing for competition.
“Not to say that it’s bad to get ready for a bodybuilding competition but the professional top tier, Mr. Olympia level, I’m not so sure about it.
Two or three Olympias I’m like, ‘why do I do this?’ It shouldn’t be like that. You’re the best in the world at what you do. I was trying to defend the title and I was dehydrated to the point where my mind just wasn’t there. It was always the dehydration process that was the hardest for me.”
Jay Cutler has been open about PED use in retirement and believes that athletes should get blood work done regularly. This is a way to make sure that bodybuilders are healthy and if not, they know what needs to be improved.

Joe Rogan Defends Mike Tyson Punching “Annoying” Passenger On Plane: ‘You Probably Earned It’

Joe Rogan Defends Mike Tyson Punching “Annoying” Passenger On Plane: ‘You Probably Earned It’

Joe Rogan recently shared his opinion on Mike Tyson’s incident on the plane and it matches many other popular stances.
Mike Tyson made headlines on Thursday after repeatedly punching a passenger that was sitting behind him on a flight. After watching the videos of the incident, many sided with Iron Mike as the man is seen bothering Tyson constantly. Joe Rogan recently hopped on board defending Tyson.
During the videos, released by TMZ, the man is seen leaning over Tyson’s seat saying something. Tyson verbally warned the man to stop but he did not listen. Later, Tyson’s reps claimed that the man threw a water bottle at Tyson while being intoxicated. This is the reason many have spoken in defense of Tyson and believe the man was in the wrong.

During an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the podcast host spoke on how “annoying” the man was and he earned what he got.
“That dude was a douche bag. He was annoying one of the baddest motherfu**rs that’s ever walked the face of the earth. That’s so dumb. That’s not even kicking a beehive, that’s like headbutting a beehive,” Joe Rogan said.
“If you find yourself and Mike Tyson’s reaching over the back of an airline seat and he’s punching you in the face, I think you probably earned it. I think you probably earned it. The guy was super annoying man. It’s like people get crazy.”
This is becoming a trend where fans believe that athletes and celebrities will not fire back because of who they are. In today’s age of social media, there are many instances where athletes are seen going back at fans who have either said insulting things or even throwing items.

This is an issue Joe Rogan addressed. He explains how these athletes and celebrities are people as well and will take action if needed.
“They think just because he’s Mike Tyson, he’s famous, he can’t just punch you but you’re annoying him. He’s going to just f***ing hit you like a normal person would.”
Mike Tyson returned to the ring for one final fight in 2020 against Roy Jones Jr. He is a retired boxer with some of the best hands of all-time. In retirement, Tyson has started his own podcast and remains active, both in the gym and the media.
This is another instance where a fan is provoking an athlete not expecting any repercussions. It is becoming common where fans are crossing boundaries with athletes and it is not always wrong for the athletes to take action just because they are famous.

Muscleman Kills Father-Of-Two With Punch Following Nightclub Incident, Sentenced To 11 Years In Prison

Muscleman Kills Father-Of-Two With Punch Following Nightclub Incident, Sentenced To 11 Years In Prison

Robert Owen Greenhalgh has been sentenced for an incident where he killed a man at a nightclub.
In September, Robert Owen Greenhalgh killed Robert Smethurst, 36, following an incident at a nightclub. Smethurst suffered brain trauma and succumbed to injuries later that night. Recently, Greenhalgh pleaded guilty to manslaughter and has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.
On the night of the incident, it was reported that Smethurst, a father-of-two, stepped on Greenhalgh’s foot. Later in the night, Greenhalgh attacked Smethurst, who was celebrating his birthday at Luxe Lounge in Bradshawgate, Bolton. The incident occurred around 1:30 A.M.

Greenhalgh was sentenced by Judge Anthony Cross QC. He made a comment during the portion of the sentencing while Smethurst’s wife, Amanda, also spoke.
“Not for one moment did you consider that which you had done, other than to glory in your achievement and invite others to attack you,” Cross said.
“I was robbed of my husband, my best friend, my happiness and my future all in one,” amanda smethurst said. “How could someone be so violent and hateful towards my husband who did absolutely nothing to deserve this attack?
The love for my husband is overwhelming proof of what an incredible man he is. I miss him more than words could ever describe.”
Robert Owen Greenhalgh has no previous convictions but police learned of his violent history after he claimed he “knocked out” three people on one occasion. He was also open about his steroid and cocaine use. Prior to attending the club, Greenhalgh had been drinking and doing drugs with a friend.

Greenhalgh was found at a hotel in Leigh following the incident. Police found syringes with traces of testosterone and trenbolone used for the gym in his work van. Greenhalgh referenced the drugs he was using when discussing the event.
In the end, Robert Owen Greenhalgh will spend 11 years and three months in prison. He will serve two-thirds of the term in prison. After being released, Greenhalgh will have to observe an added three years and nine months on license.

Jim Stoppani On Modern Bodybuilding: “The Sport Is Not Causing Drug Use, The People Are”

Jim Stoppani On Modern Bodybuilding: “The Sport Is Not Causing Drug Use, The People Are”

[embedded content]

Jim Stoppani reacts to modern bodybuilding, drug use, and respect in the sport today.
Jim Stoppani is an Exercise Physiologist and a passionate fan of bodybuilding. While he never became a career competitive bodybuilder – he did compete in the NPC and continues to track the sport closely to this day. This passion alongside his deep education and research has made him the perfect bridge between the love of bodybuilding and focusing on health. That’s why in our latest GI Exclusive partnered with Barbend, Jim Stoppani reacts to the current state of bodybuilding – including drug use and health dangers. Is it facing a crisis? Has it lost its way?
Competitive bodybuilding as we know it has existed in some form or another for at least 100 years. It exploded in the 60s and 70s during the Golden Era and has continued to break ground ever since. However, the world changes and with it the sport changes as well. With more history behind competitive bodybuilding, more criticism is brought up comparing the present to decades past. Is drug use worse? Are more bodybuilders dying? Are physiques today better or worse? The questions and criticisms are endless.

Much of the criticism is based on gut feelings, personal experience, or mob mentality. That’s why, during our conversation with Jim Stoppani, we asked him to share his reaction to bodybuilding today – combining his personal bodybuilding experience with expert researched knowledge. Cutting the bullsh*t from facts. Does Stoppani see a crisis in modern bodybuilding?
Jim Stoppani: “The Sport Is Not Causing Drug Use, The People Are”

Despite the recent news driving fear for the health of bodybuilding athletes today more than any other time in the history of the sport, Jim Stoppani still finds competitive bodybuilding a respectable sport as it is today. Stoppani does not believe that bodybuilding as a sport drives drug use – it’s the people and athletes behind it who do. But this isn’t just to lay the blame on athletes and call the irresponsible.
In fact, Jim Stoppani believes that the drive behind people to be the best in the world is what brings individuals to dangerous drug use. That’s not just in bodybuilding. That’s in every single sport in the world. Move beyond sports and it can be found in any arena where individuals strive to be elite.
Jim Stoppani, having competed in bodybuilding, understands the rare feeling of doing anything possible, including dangerous risks, to be the best in the world. To build one extra inch of muscle at all costs. It’s this drive that many average people, even bodybuilding fans, don’t really understand. Sadly, experiencing it directly is nearly the only way to truly understand it.
No matter the regulations or laws – people with this sort of drive will always find a way to possibly endanger themselves to be the best in the world. To be bigger and stronger at any cost.

Jim Stoppani Supports Education To Steer The Drive Behind Bodybuilders
So as Jim Stoppani understands it, professional and competitive bodybuilding will always be dangerous. Is it particularly more dangerous today than at any time in history? That cannot be proven without vigorous study. But what can be done, regardless of the current risks, is bring more education behind the strategies known in bodybuilding. We can’t remove the drive or the dark corners of markets to receive drugs – but we can help educate athletes further so they understand the risks.
Jim Stoppani respects bodybuilders. He loves the mass monsters all the way through to the Bikini competitors. He respects their drive despite limited prize money and, in some cases, even respect within their own sport. Jim Stoppani will not disparage the love that bodybuilders have for perfecting their physique. He can only hope to bring more education to help those driven athletes stay safer. It can never be completely safe – but to make it as safe as possible is most important.
Wrap Up
So is modern bodybuilding facing a crisis? Jim Stoppani doesn’t see anything particularly more dangerous now compared to the past. The danger has always been there – but technology has allowed us to see it faster and due to the immediacy of social media. That doesn’t mean that things can’t be improved. All professional sports are dangerous on some level – but their can always be more effort made to make it safer.
You can watch Jim Stoppani’s thoughts on modern bodybuilding and the current state of drug use and health in our latest GI Exclusive interview segment above!
