How Your Favorite Bodybuilders Celebrated Thanksgiving
Let’s take a look at how some of the top bodybuilders in the world celebrated Thanksgiving!
The sport of bodybuilding requires some serious dedication and support. Many athletes credit their success to their families back at home. Around this time of year is when everyone can truly take the time to acknowledge and celebrate.
With Thanksgiving behind us, that means Christmas and New Year’s are right around the corner. Before we move into the month of December, let’s take a look at how some of the top bodybuilders in the sport celebrated Thanksgiving.
Brandon Curry
Brandon Curry has built one of the best physiques in the sport today. In 2019, Curry rose to the top by winning both the Arnold Classic and Olympia. In each of the last two years, Curry has finished as the runner-up during the most important competition of the year. Bodybuilders can certainly put down an impressive amount of food throughout the day, which makes Thanksgiving even better. Curry spent the holiday in Murfreesboro, TN, where he admitted that his wife, Brandy, does the cooking.
Terrence Ruffin
It ws quite the year for Terrence Ruffin. He was able to get over the hump and win the Arnold Classic before finishing second to Chris Bumstead in the Olympia once again. The Classic Physique division is one that is beginning to take over and have some of the best competitors in the world. Ruffin is right at the top. On Thanksgiving Day, Ruffin celebrated in his home state of Alabama surrounded by family.
Hunter Labrada
Hunter Labrada continues to be one of the fastest-rising stars in bodybuilding. This was proven with his fourth-place finish during this year’s Olympia. He was seen celebrating with his daughter on stage after winning the Chicago Pro back in July and that is exactly how he spent the holiday at home with his family.
Regan Grimes
Regan Grimes has been on a roll since hiring a new trainer following the Olympia. He already earned qualification to the 2022 show with a victory at the KO Pro Egypt. Grimes is no stranger to traveling in order to build the best physique he can. Grimes has been seen around the world training in different areas and Thanksgiving was no different. He spent the holiday in Cancun but continued to focus on cardio, training, and diet.
Andrea Shaw
The reigning two-time Ms. Olympia champion made sure to remember those who we have lost in bodybuilding this year. Shaw posted a picture with the word “thankful” displayed in front of candles reminding everyone to keep those in mind. Shaw specifically tagged George Peterson, Shawn Rhoden, and Jennifer Hernandez.
Ronnie Coleman
The dedication that we mentioned above, there might not be a better example than Ronnie Coleman. The eight-time Olympia champion was at the top of the sport for over a decade in his prime. At 57 years old, Coleman is still crushing the gym and working to improve his physique. Do you think it would be any different on Thanksgiving?
Jennifer Dorie
The Bikini division has turned into one of the biggest in bodybuilding. This was on display during the Olympia with many competitors from all over the world taking the stage. Jennifer Dorie had an impressive year by winning the Arnold Classic followed by the Olympia just two weeks later. On her Instagram story on Thursday, Dorie shared all of the activities done to celebrate. This includes a big meal and decorating gingerbread houses.
Juan Morel
Juan Morel began weight training at 22 years old and quickly gained a passion for bodybuilding. During his career, he put together victories at some big-time shows such as the New York Pro and Toronto Pro. On Thanksgiving, Morel spent the day with family.
Whitney Jones
Whitney Jones regained her Olympia title this year after finishing third in 2020. Jones is a three-time Olympia Fitness champion with plenty more to give. She has a chance to win once again in 2022 and will be one of the favorites on stage. On Thanksgiving, Jones shared a picture in the middle of her two sons. She took the time to give thanks and giving a call-to-action for all to enjoy time with family.
Lauralie Chapados
There is a clear top-tier in the Bikini division and Lauralie Chapados is part of it. She proved it by finishing at the runner-up to Dorie during the Olympia. Chapados continues to improve each time she steps on stage. This year, it was her very first time celebrating Thanksgiving, which she shared in her Instagram story. Chapados spent the day at the house of the family of her boyfriend, Aldo Paredes. He also took to Instagram to shared that it was Chapados’ first Thanksgiving but also the first time she is tasting his mother’s food.

John Haack Approaches World Record With Easy 400kg Deadlift
John Haack recently completed the “easiest” 400kg deadlift he ever had.
John Haack has been competing as a powerlifter and this includes putting up huge numbers in training sessions. This is what Haack has been doing in recent months. He seems to be preparing for a massive year in 2022 and it is because of lifts like the one we saw on Monday.
Haack has not been shy about sharing lifts on social media. Recently, it was Instagram that saw Haack load up 400kg (881.9lb) on a barbell and move it with ease. In fact, Haack even said that himself.
“@that_hugeasian_guy : “Do another”I will not, sir.Easiest 400kgs/881lbs has ever felt.”
Andy Huang was in the background to watch this lift and attempt to persuade Haack into performing another rep. Haack stepped up to the barbell with a lifting belt and wrist wraps. The weight came off the ground easily and did not pause at any time. Haack kept perfect form while completing a lift that looked relatively effortless.
Obviously, a lift completed in training cannot count as a world record. This does not take away from the lift and how close it was to the actual record. Haack currently holds the world record in the 90kg division at 402.5kg (887.4lb). He set this mark during the 2021 World Raw Powerlifting Federation The Bucked Up Showdown. Dan Bell currently holds the overall competition deadlift at 410kg (903.9lb), which he set at the 2021 WRPF Hybrid Showdown III.
John Haack has solidified himself as one of the best powerlifters in the 90kg division around the world. During the Bucked Up Showdown, he did something that has never been done before. Haack not only set the deadlift world record but he became the first athlete in the division to total over 1,000kg in a single competition. Haack finished with a total of 1,005.5kg (2,216.8lb). Because of this, there is some talk that Haack could compete as a strongman in the future.
Haack has built up elite strength to put up huge numbers performing deadlifts and squats. There is a chance he could be shooting to compete on a strongman competition series such as the Clash on the Coast series. Haack would be a U90kg or U105kg competitor.
John Haack has already made a name for himself in a big way. Now, he has a chance to continue to put up record-breaking numbers and maybe even venture into a new area of competition. This is what fans have to look forward to with Haack.

WWE Superstar Seth Rollins Tackled During Show, Fan Charged With Attempting Assault
The fan who attacked Seth Rollins during Raw will be charged for incident.
Anything can happen during a live television event. That was seen on WWE’s “Raw” on Monday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Following a match, Seth Rollins was tackled by a fan on the ramp. The fan was quickly taken by security and brought backstage. That fan has been charged with attempted assault and attempted violation of arts and cultural affairs for their actions, according to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi.
The incident occurred after Rollins, who is one of WWE’s biggest stars, defeated Finn Balor and was walking back to the locker rooms. The fan seemed to blindside Rollins and attempt to spear him in the midsection. It turned out to be more of a tackle and Rollins quickly put the man in a headlock before security arrived.
The broadcast caught a quick glimpse of the incident before cutting to Balor, who was laying on the mat in the ring. Seth Rollins did not need medical attention after the incident after suffering a bruised lip.
The WWE made a statement to ESPN following the incident.
“WWE takes the safety of its performers very seriously,” WWE said. “The individual who attacked Seth Rollins has been turned over to the NYPD and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
WWE is scripted entertainment but every now and then, there are incidents that come as a surprise. This could be an unexpected injury in the ring or an attack by an outside person. For Seth Rollins, this is not the first time that a fan has tried to attack him while performing.
Back in 2016, Seth Rollins was in the middle of the ring cutting a promo when a fan jumped the barricade and attempted to approach him. The man got in the face of Rollins before being shoved away and taken by security.
Seth Rollins made his WWE debut back in 2012 after helping CM Punk defeat John Cena to retain the WWE Championship. This was toward the end of the career of Cena and the WWE began introducing some new stars. Enter Rollins and Roman Reigns.
Rollins quickly rose to the top of the WWE and this put him on the radar for any crazed fan looking for a quick 15 minutes. The organization has made it clear that they do not condone this behavior from fans and there will be a proper punishment.

Cedric McMillan Speaks On Near-Death Experience Due To Heart Issues
Cedric McMillan opened up in an interview after an appearance as a guest poser.
There has been plenty of speculation recently about the health of Cedric McMillan. He did not compete at the Arnold Classic back in September and missed the finals during the Legion Sports Fest. While McMillan usually keeps information quiet, he recently spoke out on his health after an appearance as a guest poser.
McMillan took the stage during the 2021 NPC Armed Forces Nationals to show off a routine. Following the event, McMillan shared some information on his health, including how he almost passed away from complications with his heart.
“Back in July, I was almost dead. Like almost notify the next of kin. My wife was with me but I was out of here. But I didn’t see no white light so I don’t know if I was that close but looking at me from the outside, I was that close,” McMillan said.
“I was the hospital for about three weeks. I lost about 30 pounds. I was getting ready to go to the Arnold. I spent all of August trying to gain weight back — ignoring the doctor’s advice. then I spent about four weeks trying to get ready while I’m still sick. That lets you know how damn crazy we are.”
Cedric McMillan revealed that he was quickly trying to put back on the weight that he lost. This was in an attempt to get back in proper shape to compete in the Arnold Classic.
McMillan continued by discussing how COVID impacts bodybuilders. After contracting the virus back in March of 2020, McMillan began feeling the long-tern effects on his heart over a year later.
“The virus makes protein levels spike in your heart. It makes us bodybuilders and fitness people particularly sensitive. You would think because we exercise that we would be less sensitive but it’s something about the protein levels. Also, most athletes have an enlarged heart.”
McMillan did drop a subtle bomb by saying he plans to compete during the 2022 Arnold Classic. This is a show that McMillan won back in 2017 and has made a point to make every year.
“I’ll definitely be doing the Arnold Classic, for sure. I try to hit it every year.”
Like many have done recently, Cedric McMillan provided a call-to-action for bodybuilders. This time, he was discussing time and how important it is to give as much as possible to loved ones.
“What I do know is that at the end of the day, you guys don’t care about how many muscles we have or how many trophies we won. You just want that lost time back. All that I ask is to be patient with us.”
“When you get a chance, I guess I would say sacrifice yourself to the people that love you. We give so much of ourselves to the gym and prep and work. Give yourself to your family and the people who love you while you still have a chance.”
Cedric McMillan looks like he is back in elite shape and that will only improve as time goes on. It is always good to hear that McMillan’s health is improving and he is back to doing what he loves. Fans can now look forward to the next time he steps on stage.

WATCH: An Inside Look At The Natural Olympia 2021 | Backstage, Posing Routines, & Awards
[embedded content]
A visual deep dive into the Natural Olympia 2021 competition.
November 11-13th, 2021 held the Pinnacle of Natural Bodybuilding – the Natural Olympia. This is the biggest event of the year for the INBA/PNBA natural bodybuilding league. Much like the IFBB Pro’s Mr. Olympia – it showcases the best athletes from across the world who have fought to qualify for this yearly event. With strict WADA drug testing guidelines to ensure that all athletes are natural – this event is the biggest weekend of the year for natural bodybuilders across the world.
Generation Iron was on the ground floor reporting on the event as well as capturing footage with our camera crew. We captured a behind the scenes and on stage look to give a full encapsulation of the event. With 20 divisions across both traditional and masters categories – this is one of the most super-sized bodybuilding events in the world.
You can watch our full behind the scenes look at the event above. Read on to get a full break down on the details of the Natural Olympia 2021. You can also check out our official results from the event right here.
What Defines INBA/PNBA Natural Bodybuilding?
There are many natural bodybuilding leagues – but the INBA/PNBA is certainly the biggest – reaching across the country and having athletes representing over 15 different countries across the globe. While nearly all pro bodybuilding leagues claim to condemn steroids – only certain leagues dedicate themselves to drug testing athletes before every competition. The INBA/PNBA leads in this regard. They use the most technically advanced drug test system (WADA – which is used by the Olympics) to ensure fairness across all athletes and competitions.
How The Drug Testing Works
The INBA/PNBA league uses the most sophisticated and advanced drug testing system in professional sports – the World Anti-Doping Agency (also known as WADA). WADA testing is the same system used for the Olympics every four years – and is known for it’s accuracy and quality.
The INBA/PNBA league uses WADA testing before every major competition. If a pro natural bodybuilder should fail the test, their titles are revoked and they are placed on the INBA/PNBA Wall Of Shame – a virtual list of competitors who have attempted to cheat the competitions and drug tests.
How The Judging Works
The Natural Olympia is a natural show which means that there are some differences from the IFBB shows. The biggest distinction when it comes to judging is the size of the athletes. There is not as much muscle mass for natural athletes as opposed to IFBB competitors, specifically Men’s Open. Despite the difference in size, athletes compete in similar categories.
In the Men’s Physique division, competitors perform bodybuilding poses and a T-walk. The judges have to adjust because the muscle mass is smaller despite the level of conditioning remaining high. Athletes can qualify for the Natural Olympia by competing in one PNBA competition. This has to be a professional show and they do not need to win a specific placing.
The Divisions
While there are a lot of similarities – the INBA/PNBA features a wider array of divisions that might seem familiar but with a slight twist on the typical formula you see in an IFBB Pro show. Below is a quick list of the full divisions (please note that each division also has a masters counterpart for ages 40+.
Men’s Bodybuilding Open
Men’s Classic Physique Open
PNBA Angels
Figure Classic
Men’s Sport Model Open
Women’s Sport Model Open
Women’s Physique Open
Figure Open
Bikini Divas Open
Men’s Physique Open
Women’s Bodybuilding Open
The goal for the INBA/PNBA is to provide as many opportunities for athletes to compete. Whichever physique type goal an athlete might desire there is a division for it – so long as there are enough competitors interested in competing.
Creativity is also rewarded across these divisions. The PNBA Angels must showcase custom made costumes as part of their routines. Other divisions such as the Men’s Classic Physique also usually feature some element of a costume to coincide with the posing routines.
Wrap Up
There’s no doubt that the INBA/PNBA’s Pinnacle Of Natural Bodybuilding Natural Olympia is the biggest natural bodybuilding event on the planet. This year’s showcase was no different – and we were excited to provide a deeper inside look than traditionally seen over the years. You can watch our full recap and behind the scenes look in our GI Exclusive video above.
Chris Hemsworth Shares Video During ‘Brutal’ Pilates Workout
Chris Hemsworth is no stranger to intense workout sessions.
Chris Hemsworth has been through some incredible physique transformations during his career as an actor. This is the work of intense workout sessions using different forms of exercise. Recently, Hemsworth went through a strenuous pilates workout along with his brother, Liam Hemsworth.
This workout is being led by Centr, the fitness app created by Hemsworth that builds at-home workouts and meditations. This was extremely beneficial for many during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic while gyms were closed.
The Hemsworth brothers were joined by Chris’ stunt double, and close friend, Boby Holland Hanton for the workout. Hemsworth shared a video on Instagram for his 51.3 million followers to see.
“The struggle was real in this brutal Pilates session thanks to @centrfit @liamhemsworth@bobbydazzler84 @zocobodypro@sylviaroberts_pilates.”
Chris Hemsworth has been sharing plenty of different workout routines and physique updates ahead of his role in Extraction 2. This is the sequel of the original Netflix action movie where he plays a black market mercenary. These different workouts have included boxing and huge arm days in order to gain the necessary size — and it has worked like a charm.
This time, Hemsworth has focused on pilates. This is a workout that is aimed to build core strength. While building overall core strength, pilates increases joint flexibility and strengthens the muscles being targeted. This is why it is a beneficial form of exercise for anyone, despite their fitness goals.
Hemsworth has been focusing his attention on bodyweight training recently. This comes after some intense weight training to build muscle mass. Hemsworth has shown interest in improving speed and agility to complete the transformation.
Chris Hemsworth knows a thing or two about transforming his physique in order to prepare for a role. The 38-year-old actor has starred in movies such as Thor and Avengers:Endgame where he has been seen on the big screen in tremendous shape. It is no different as Hemsworth prepares for his new role in the Extraction sequel.
During his preparation, Hemsworth has been active on social media sharing his workouts. This is something that will likely continue. When finding some new exercises, Hemsworth is not a bad person to look to for some motivation.

WATCH: Kevin Malone Deadlifts 700 Pounds at 53 Years Old
Kevin Malone continues to impress in the gym at the age of 53.
Kevin Malone might be a bodybuilder but this does not mean that he is not experienced in powerlifting. The 53-year-old has been accomplishing many personal bests in the gym recently, which means he has been training with heavy weight. Recently, Malone showed off another huge lift.
Malone took to Instagram to share a 700-pound raw deadlift. The lift began smoothly until Malone was able to lock it out and return the weight to the ground. He used chalk and seemed to be wearing a lifting belt, shoes, and wrist wraps.
“700…..???#notbadfor53 #almost54 #deadlift #bodybuilding#ronnie #notbadforagrandad“
Malone got the weight off the ground with ease before slowing down a bit on the way up. He was able to power through it to complete the lift and give social media another feat of great strength.
This is not the first time that Kevin Malone has deadlifted a weight in this range. He has been in the 700-pound range multiple times and has even ventured into the realm of 750 pounds. Despite pulling off some massive lifts, Malone has never competed in a sanctioned powerlifting competition.
Malone began his career as a bodybuilder backed in 2014. He finished seventh overall at the NPC Teen Collegiate and Masters Bodybuilding Championships. Malone fell to 16th at the same competition in 2015 before taking a three-year break from the stage. Malone returned once again to competition in 2018.
In 2018, Malone notched three top-five finishes. This includes a gold medal during the NPC Northcoast Championships and third place during the National Physique Committee Phil Heath Classic.
Malone is 53 years old and has never competed in a powerlifting competition but he continues to put up big numbers. Malone recently competed a deadlift PR of 760 pounds. In his caption, Malone added “#roadto800”. It seems clear that his sights are set on some even bigger numbers as time goes on. This is in addition to a 727-pound deadlift for two reps that Malone completed back in January.
Kevin Malone is another example of a powerlifter reaching new heights in recent months. If social media is any indication, this is something that is going to continue moving forward. It will be intriguing to see what level alone reaches next.

Regan Grimes Speaks On Aggressive Level Of Training At Oxygen Gym
Regan Grimes admits he had to make up a lie in order to leave.
Regan Grimes is continuing to improve and build an incredible physique that is ready for major competitions. Grimes decided to switch trainers after a disappointing finish at the Olympia this year and it seemed to work immediately. He earned qualification to the 2022 Olympia after picking up a victory at the KO Pro Egypt.
To build a championship physique, there is a lot of hard work and dedication that has to be put in. Grimes decided to take his training to the next level and visit the famous Oxygen Gym in Kuwait. In an interview, Grimes opened up about the overly aggressive training style he was apart of.
Grimes spent about six or seven weeks training at the Oxygen Gym and out on significant weight in a short amount of time. Grimes admitted he did not feel his best and was struggling to keep up with the intensity of the workouts.
“Abdullah (Alotaibi) would be like ‘See ya downstairs at 12 o’clock,’ and then we would get started. Two guys would load the plates up and the weights, and he would be guiding. It was quite the system, it was crazy,” Grimes said.
“I was there, honestly for a total of six, seven weeks. I did put on, oh man, I think I went out there like 260, and I had almost hit 300lb. Like, it was fast, fast… I felt awful. I felt horrible. It was just overly aggressive in every aspect. I mean, we were training twice some days. Literally, I would be in my bed with meals around me, like I was eating nonstop around the clock.”
Not only was Kuwait not the right environment for Grimes, but it was not ideal for his significant other as well. Grimes explained that she joined him on the trip but left after just a few days. The conservative environment in Kuwait parlayed with Grimes’ training schedule did not make for a great trip.
Grimes’ partner was not the only one who left early. The bodybuilder decided to cut the trip short after about a month and a half. He admitted that to do so, Grimes had to make up a lie as to why he had to leave because the trainers were unhappy about the decision.
“They were very mad (about me leaving). I actually said that I was going to go home for Christmas. I had to use an excuse, they weren’t going to let me go home, I don’t think. I can’t say they weren’t going to let me, but they would’ve done everything in my power to convince me not to go, so I was like ‘I gotta go home, I’ve never missed a Christmas with my family.”
Regan Grimes is not the first person to speak out about this level of intensity from the Oxygen Gym. While the regimen was not for Grimes, there are others that have gone and enjoyed the level of workout and results. This is not a system that might be for everyone but the results do not lie.

REPORT: Did Big Ramy Just Get Married To A Second Wife?
Reports from the middle east have claimed that Big Ramy has married a second wife in secret.
Media outlets from the middle east reported on Friday, November 19th, 2021, that Mamdouh Elssbiay, aka Big Ramy, has married a second wife. The news was originally reported by Cairo24, which stated that the wedding celebration was held in secret at a hotel in Alexandria, Egypt.
Big Ramy currently has a wife, Marwa, with three daughters. This marriage would mark his second wife (both active marriages) and, if true, makes Ramy the first polygamist Mr. Olympia champion in the history of the sport.
Egyptian journalist Radwa El-Sherbiny, posted a tweet on Twitter regarding the second marriage. The post included a picture of Ramy’s wedding alongside a photo of his first wife. You can see the post below:
يعنى بدل ما يكافئها انها استحملت ظروفه الصعبه لحد ما وصل راح أتجوز عليها! pic.twitter.com/Na2JOa4tzI
— Radwa El Sherbiny (@RadwaElSherbiny) November 20, 2021
As of the time of this writing, some reports have refuted the news and claimed that the wedding photos that were leaked were taken while shooting a scene from an upcoming TV series set for Ramadan 2022. It had previously been reported that Big Ramy would star in the TV series that is going into production.
After these reports, it would appear that Big Ramy’s brother, Mohammed, separately confirmed the news of Ramy’s second wedding. He also claimed that the family was fully aware of his decision approximately two days earlier. The family did not attend the wedding to avoid hurting Marwa’s feelings. Mohammed went on to also defend his brother’s decision, noting that Ramy has his own reasons for the second marriage. Though he did not go into further detail.
Big Ramy’s brother also indicated that Ramy’s first wife, Marwa, was not made aware of the second marriage until much later. Mohammed also stated that upon discovering the news, Marwa was in shock and having a hard time taking in the information.
Big Ramy most recently earned his second Mr. Olympia title this past October, solidifying his reign after many years of battling for the prestigious title. He has claimed that he will continue to return, defend, and maintain his champion status for years to come. Ramy has also received a hero’s welcome upon returning back to Egypt. Contrary to some aspects of pro bodybuilding here in the United States – Egypt holds Ramy’s success on levels similar to superstar mainstream athletes such as NFL and NBA.
This story is still developing as Generation Iron reaches out to get direct confirmation about these early reports. This article will be updated as more information becomes available. Stay tuned to Generation Iron Fitness Network for all things bodybuilding and fitness news and updates!
