Well, me and my old powerlifting training partner are on the outs and I really can't stand the fucker, but he was in the gym today with his new "protege" and he walked over and gave me a lift off and helped me with my bench and I must say it was nice to have a spotter/partner on bench even though all he did was lift off and helped push me through where I would've stopped if I was training by myself. I still don't like the fucker, but it was nice having someone there.
Bottom line is, I would like to have a training partner on certain lifts, but wouldn't want them there all the time getting in the fucking way.
I have been doing pyramids on flat bench and I had 225 on there and I was only supposed to do around 4-6 reps, but he pushed me to get 8 reps and it was nice to know 1) I can do it and 2) that I need to move the weight up and just find a spotter. I've been doing 145 for 14, 165 for 12, 185 for 10, 205 for 8, 225 for 4-6 then back up, but once he pushed me to get 8 reps at 225 and then 2 at 255 I stopped
