Heavy days how much rest

Say you are doing squats and going heavy. How long do you rest? If Im going super heavy I try to wait about 3 minutes. My norm is to hit a set, start a song, and wait until its done until I start another set. I usually wait 60 to 90 when Im cutting but during bulking and heavy days I go 3 minutes usually.
 
I don't ever time myself but probably about the same. I usually train with a partner so after my set, he will re-rack weights, do his set and we'll chat for a minute, until I catch my breath, and then I'll do another set. Rinse, repeat. With things like squats, deads, leg press, etc, it seems like I get winded before my muscles are tired. Maybe it's just me.
 
I only do 1 working set per exercise so mine is a little different. Today for leg press for instance I'll put 5 plates on each side and do that 20 times. Then I get up, put two more on each side and do another 10. I continue to do this with almost no rest since none of it is hard and I'm just trying to get my knees warm. Today when I got up to 10 plates a side a waited until I was totally focused, so maybe 2 minutes then did my set. Then I take a good long breather, take the weights off and move on to squats....
 
As long as i feel I need to recover and push maximum weight...probably 2-5 minutes if I guessed.
