I went to the gym yesterday to do chest for the first time after hurting my shoulder last week and it's not looking good. I grabbed some 55# dumbbells to test it out and I had a hard time pressing them for 8 reps. I can press them, that's not necessarily the problem, the problem is when I'd bring them down to my chest. I had to bring them down into a neutral grip and it wasn't bad, but if I kept palms out, it was awful. I went to the incline seated hammer strength press and was able to do those nearly without any pain. I worked up to 130# on each side for 8 reps which is about where I'm at normally. I've went as high as 160 for 8 reps in the recent past.

So needless to say I'm going to keep icing it and popping NSAIDS like candy and just doing light weight and push ups until it strengthens back up. I can't afford to miss work right now, so if I go to the doc, it'll have to be after the first of the year.

I have never heard of any of that for pain relief, but I'm definitely going to take a look. I hate taking NSAIDS because I know when used in excess you're prone to kidney stones and they don't help in building muscle and actually probably do the opposite. But I'm only looking for something to hold me over until it strengthens up, but I'd rather look into this natural way because that's something I can do even after it heals that won't hinder me.
