To train with someone. I've been training solo for so long that I've forgotten what it's like to train with someone. I had a friend that i haven't seen in a long time wander into the gym tonight and happened to be training legs also so I trained with him and now I'm sore as hell. I haven't lifted like that in a long time and I must say, it's quite nice.

Bro no joke I so dislike training with a partner. Slows things down and kills my mind set. I hate talking, yacking ect. I have a guy I train with now and then but we do different body parts, my idea! It's easier for me to move right through to the next station and keep my drive going.
I have a buddy now who don't lift but has a decent max on chest, and keeps wanting to come in and show me his way of chest, or a good routine as he calls it. I so don't have time to lolly gag with shit and people when I lift. When the gym is dead I change the radio station to what I want, or when there is someone there I rock my head set and put the hoodie on.

I'll lift with my kid brother at his house now and then, that's the only time I train with someone.

Big,
You ever get those talkers/yappers?

Yea, I've run into too many people that only want to talk and that's why I don't typically train with anyone. I go in the gym to do one thing and it's not talk. I'll talk before or after I leave the gym, but not while I'm in there. I turn my ipod up all the way, make no eye contact with people other than to nod in acknowledgement to people. But I think most people know I won't talk so they don't try anymore

This guy tonight is much like me. He doesn't talk while we train, just gets things done and stays focused

for a while i had been training with a couple of mates, then during my diet id started training by myself again, id makes a huge difference to your focus and drive like eat'n said, last week this mate of mine came to the gym and said he wanted to train, i wasnt looking forward to it at all, i knew that he would drag my workout down 100% and what do you know? every chance he got he tried to have a conversation with me, the workout took twice as long and felt like i didnt get half as much done, now i make sure im at the gym when i know hes not going to be there.

You just told my story 100%. My buddy tries training with me, and it's not that I dislike him, but he talks and talk and drags me down, plus he thinks he knows what he is doing and tried telling me shit, and it drives me nuts. The other day he wanted to show me some cable cross overs where he grabs the cables, and moves up a few steps and drops to both knees, doing some Bat-Man spread cable cross-overs. Then the guy begins to tell me about doing legs, told me how he does super-sets with kickers after squats? I said what the fuck is a kicker???? he shows me the motion, and I say " Oh, leg extensions? " People bring me down and kill my drive, sorry to be hate'n. When you have to make up movements and you don't know the names of any, then you have no biz being around me training. Now, I never said I won't go fishing with the guy!

I love that attitude, get in an get it done. I can talk with few people, but they are like me and know when and where and how to chat, it's like a code for us, cause if some guys see us rapping, they walk over and join, so it's like a covert operation just to say good morning and have a good day!
Any more I use the basic body language, the hoodie up,head set on, and give nods or thumbs up and carry on with my way!:dj::thumbsup:

I talk to guys in the office when I'm done or before I go in, but rarely will I say more than a few sentences to anyone when I'm actually in the gym

I have a weekend training partner, that when he is there we kill it...Best partner I ever had. He is 62 years old, but could out train most 20 years old kids. He can muster up some serious intensity.

That's awesome. I know a few guys that are older, not that old, but 40s and 50s that still lift a lot more than most guys and have a lot more intensity

i have a few designated "spotters" i train on my own but get a few spots here n there when needed to push those few last reps.

Still get the benifit of traning alone and doing my own thing but also able to push past failure.

That's the only benefit I see with having a partner, having someone there to push you on the last few reps

I wish I had a training partner. But I do pretty good by myself. Someone to lift up dumbbells in position for me and being able to do negatives and forced reps would be nice

Yea, when I go heavy on dumbbell presses, I'd love to have someone there to get the weight up on the first rep because that's always the hardest for me. Once I get the weight up, I'm good and I don't go as heavy as I'd like because of this, so yea, a training partner would be good here
