I was doing 410 on sit down Hammerstrength bench today and on one rep my ear drum started hurting... Is this possible or a coincidence? it still hurts now, hours later

I've pushed real hard and one ear would kinda start ringing...but it went away quickly and no pain was present

I have major ear issues all my life, and this time of year it is the sinuses, as they are very sensitive. Fluid builds up and such, and when you lift like you already know the blood pressure builds-up in the cranium, so most likely with the flow of blood in the tiny vessels in the ear drum area, aside with fluid and such, seems very likely to be the cause. Avoid water getting in from the shower for the next few days, and just watch your stress/straining levels when lifting, and of course breathe.

yeah after the fact I started thinking it could have been from not breathing, but I wasnt paying attenion to that... damn, thanks fellas

Bad posture and not breathing could have very well have been the culprit here. Trust me, I learned this many times over. Listen to are bodies, it will speak values to us, literally.

If the pain consistent for 3-4 days, you may have a perforated drum, see a Dr if it worsens at all bro, last thing we want to see is you have any issue like this getting worse.

Remember, keep it dry as you can for the next few days, and hold off on attempting any drops of any sort. Let it heal, cause it could just be a tiny little vessel.

Good luck Champ!

No this is happened to me, except I didn't have pain. I partially tore my ear drum lifting heavy. I should add this to the injury list thread...LOL

I was lifting heavy on back day, bent over rows, new personal best and got really light headed. I woke up the next day and lost at least 50% of my hearing in my ear. Took a few months to get it back and I still dont think its 100%.

oh wow! It hurt all day yesterday today it feels fine so far, and I can hear out of it, def have to be more careful, I was in a rush to try a little more weight so...
