Just wanted to share this experience.....I have not done squats since the 1st of October, 2 months. I went 1 month with no training due to surgery on my hand. Now I've been back in the gym this is my 4th week, going along good, still can't do certain exercises but I can 'make do'. I have been hitting my legs hard with the hack and the leg press.
Last night I tried squats again for the 1st time. I did them last in my leg routine. Well I only used 225, 3 sets of 10, thought I was gonna puke! Now keep in mind I have a 505 max, and have been training my legs hard with machines the past few weeks.
Today they are sore as hell!
This just proves to me again, IMO, there IS NO SUBSTITUTE for squats!

I have has problems with squats since my car accedent. I get a shooting pain up my back that feels like someone is eletrocuting me. I still try to do them. As soon as the pain hits I back off. Squats are the best.

me and my three partners have been doing sets of 20 for some time now. it's starting to get really hard. some of us are apraoching the 500x20 mark. ass to ankles of course. shit it's all mental past 10.

PS- you know I love em ;)

Damn 500 for 20 reps!!! You guys must have sick legs. At my strongest I handled 495 for 8-10 and my legs and ass were so big I had to get a 40inch waist in baggy fit just to fit my legs ( got a 32 inch waist, well, thats what it is now, it was larger when I was doing heavy squats). Now I stick to around 405 for 10-12. My waist is much happier.

actually, I'll be honest and admit that my quads are no where near where I would like them to be. at just over three bills I carry alot of weight in my back (deadlifts and power cleans are my best lifts) and upper body. I'm tall, so putting size on the quads has always been a struggle.

I guess you could buy my training video when it comes out to see it for real. I'll let yall know when it hits the market.

Thanks, Guys. YEp, that's a fun one. I do NO cardio, so yes, I'm a bit, ahem, winded aafter that. I usually just stand there and watch the room move around me and try to remember what it was the God said to me near the end there. I keep on forgetting, so, of course, I have to go back to see him again, time to time... ;)
