This is my first post so I thought I'd say Hi to everybody!
I've been out of the game for a while, but I'm slowly getting back into it and am currently training at home. Since I've started training without a partner I've noticed something strange. I train with the idea that I do a warm up set of 15-25 reps then I do 5 sets of heavy 4-6 reps (to failure!) then I do 4 sets with fifty percent of that weight to failure hopefully getting between 10- 20 reps.
The weird thing is, on the last for sets I'm lucky if I can get even 1-2 more reps than the heavy sets! After a few weeks of experiencing this halfway through my lighter sets I changed back to the heavy weight and could still manage the same rep range. So what's wrong! How come my muscles (after the warm up!) dont seem to be able to tell the difference between a heavy weight and one half it's size?
Also I have tried training a few session with lower weights and been able to get every set (to failure!) in the Higher range of 8-15 reps so I don't think its a question of muscular endurance!
Any help/answers would be much appreciated!
Cheers!
