well did training session number one with mike moore and lightsout this morning at the Keokuk ymca...we did back there...

now im getting ready to go train with my old mentor Mark Lamb...we are gonna do delts
 
im up at the University of Iowa hospitals for Grace, for the next few days. more details later
 
Im ok, but Grace has been dianosed with type 1 diabetic...which means she needs insulin shots daily, up to 4 times a day...Sarah and I knew something was up, when she hasnt been her normal self the last few weeks. and today we found out why...but its good to know what is up, and now we can face it head on...
 
well with this new challenge...with gracey...things have changed...Its been a tough 3 days in the hospital, and im ready to come home. Im mentally not up to hardcore dieting now, but im gonna give it a few more days to give my mind and body a break..before making any changes to contest prep plans. Im not sure, what to do, cause the next couple weeks with Grace will be tough. Im not sure, what to think about everything. With Jr.Nats being 12 weeks away, that isnt a big deal. But, with state only 2.5 weeks away its tough to mentally be ready for that...But as I said im not sure...
 
skip what you need to skip and tend to your family if they need you bro, I hope everything works out for you and that you get to destress a bit after a few days, sorry to hear all this is going on
 
I feel better today...just giving my mind a break for a bit...back to work tommarow...start training today again, after a couple days off...Didnt really do any damage to my body...it actully looks really good this morning..nice a dry, a tad flat, but very hard and crisp...prob, didnt eat as much as I thought. So I leaned up some more, maybe...IDK...take pics this week, and make the adjustments...
 
Well guys this weekend was pretty good. Got to carb up both Sat, and Sunday. Weight was around 228-230lbs...

yesterday did, Chest and Triceps, and today was Quads, by themself...I was pretty drained after doing quads with Sarah, as we focused on higher reps. Did Squats, Leg presses (with feet down low) and leg extensions. Dont sound like much but each set was a T.U.T set, with high reps (20 reps)...

tommarow or tues, do back and bis, and then after that hams and calfs...
 
Had a good workout yesterday with Midwest Muscle...we went to the local anytime finess..and tore it up there...

felt pretty strong yesterday to...

pulldowns, db bent rows, straight arm pulldowns, seated dc rows, behind neck pulldowns...all for mid range reps (10-12 reps) fast pace workout...
 
well guys figure this one out...My weight today is up to 235.5lbs....I dont know what is going on. Normally by Thursday I'd be back down to 230lbs going in to the high 220's...but this week, my weight is going up. I have increased, fat burners, done lower carbs, even lower fats. Gotten in all my cardio, trained everyday, ect, ect. Everything to lower my bodyweight. But, no its going up. I guess, maybe will all the added stress from the past week, is starting to finally come to an end. That cortsial is finally leaving my body. IDK, maybe im growing again. Hell who knows. But if this keeps up, I wont be doing the state show as a heavy, but as a superheavy. Oh well, why fight it. Im getting leaner, looking fuller, and harder...so I wont complain...
 
ok guys played around with my water last night a bit, took a diuretic (1/2 HTCZ, 12.5mg) and then another half this morning at 5 am...Ate, about 250-300 grams of sugar carbs (skittles, laffy taffy, ect, ect, sugar candy's like that) and woke up at 231lbs...looking pretty hard, and decent...dryer ofcourse, not really full, and not super veiny, but dececnt....prob, need a harder carb up, and stronger diuretics (more of the same or something stronger) Couldve pulled more water out, cause my legs looked dry but not near as dry as they could...
 
Last day of depleting some, didnt go crazy on my depleting. Wanted to see what a lighter depletion, with a good carb up would do for me...In past shows, I was over depleted and coundnt carb up enough to save my life. This time ill start my dyazides out tommarow, 25mg, then do the same for Thurs to start pulling out water, and see how much its gonna do for me...I figure this way I can predict it better with the diuretics in me, and not have to do a crazy carb up friday night
 
Day 2 of carbing up...filling out pretty well, holding around 235.5lbs tonight...in the morning Im about 232lbs...so im gaining about 3-4 pounds during the day...But dry out really decent at night. Each day im getting harder, and grainier...I feel good where im at for the state show...I wont be as conditioned as I normal, but I wll be big, hard, and pretty well in shape for a state show. I feel, good for being 9 weeks out from Jr.Nats...Im ready to get my prep going for Jr.Nats...but first this week I need to get my NQ ...
 
Are you garbing up on sugary carbs on day two also? Or using oats and potatoes?

more oats/rice and rice cakes...not to much sugar yet...prob, have a steak and potatoe meal tonight....pancakes in the morning...then Ill be ready to go...
 
Well after a week off from dieting and training. I started back right today. 19 weeks and counting to the North Americans.

Trained back tonight with Mark Lamm, former Mr.Iowa in 1992.

Did full deadlifts, Hammer lat pulldowns, Hammer one arm rows, and Straight arm pullovers. 4 sets each 10-15 reps. Fast paced, hard and heavy workout. Felt good to get back at it today.

weight today was 248lbs...Hit a high of 252lbs over the weekend. but ofcourse it was mostly water weight.
 
Had a great week of training ...Im planning on doing a 5 day rotation....looking something like this

monday - delts
tues - off
wends - arms
thurs - legs
fri - off
sat - chest (might do extra arm work on this day to)
sun - back

today I did chest and biceps with my 62 year old training partner Frank (he just won the 60 and over division at the state show)

Hammer incline press, smythe press to neck, and DB flys
cable standing curls, db hammer curls, db alt. curls

we did more of a DC type of workout today, lower volume, but high intensity, with rest pauses, and static's.

tommarow is back day...plan on doing pulldowns to front, some type of row (bar, db, or hammer) and deadlifts, plus some pullovers...

weight is around 240lbs looking pretty hard...get some pics tommarow
 
Had a killer back and trap workout yesterday...Just killed it in the gym...my mindset is at a all time high right now. Very focused for this show
